Xbox 360 Elite – the best console around?

Written by Andy Johnson.

As a 25 year old, I have grew up with consoles ever changing, I have had everything from, the early Sega Mastersystem and Mega Drive, followed by the Sony Playstation 1 & 2, Xbox and now Xbox 360 Elite. Whilst they have all been better than the previous, the Xbox 360 Elite has continued to improve as it has gotten older, which is why I love it and don’t have the urge to replace it. The design looks great, even the wireless controllers are comfortable to use.

In competition with the Sony Playstation 3, the Xbox 360 Elite console needs to stand up and be counted, it does that and a much much more.

To start with the array of games available, offer something for all ages. My personal favourites are Sports and Action games, and two games coming soon and available for Pre Order now will keep me busy for the next few months to come. EA Sports Fifa World Cup 2010 will be a great addition to anybodys gaming catalogue to complete their summer of football. In addition to this, having already played the demo of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction from Ubisoft , (which can be downloaded for free directly through the console) the game promises to be yet another winner from the Tom Clancy series – I’ve already pre-ordered my copy!

The game download section from the Xbox Live Dashboard allows you to download the latest demos and videos of up and coming releases, as well as regaining your youth by purchasing retro games from the original Xbox, and saving them directly to the massive 120gb Hard Drive.

The Xbox also offers a huge amount of movies available for download, and with the console’s HD Compatibility, the viewing experience is the best it possibly can be.

Purchasing games and movies has been made simple with the Xbox Live Points cards on offer.

The latest addition to the Xbox Live Dashboard is in conjunction with Sky, now Sky subscribers can stream some of the most popular channels live, directly through the Xbox Elite, channels including Sky Sports, Sky Movies, Sky 1 and many more. The Sky Player also gives you the opportunity to catch up any programmes you have missed.

Catching up with friends has even been made easy with the Facebook application, which allows you to access the social networking site through the Xbox Live connection.

The Xbox will even sync onto any PC on your home network and access all of your photo’s, videos and music which you can stream through the console.

All in all, the Xbox 360 Elite console is an all round entertainment system for all the family, which allows you to play games, watch TV and listen to your favourite music, even whilst gaming .

So that’s why I love the Xbox 360 – the best console around – but do you agree?
