Very Sale now on – time to bag a bargain!

I love sale time, I love a bargain! However, on many occasions, I have been gripped with sale-fever resulting in purchases that I wouldn’t normally buy simply because ‘its only a fiver’. That’s how I ended up with a pea green, 3/4 length sleeve, bell shaped, jacket last summer – wrong colour, wrong shape. Just plain wrong.

So, how to survive the sales?

Before you begin, have a think about any gaps in your wardrobe – is there a particular item that you often wish you had that you could search out in the sales? Now is also an ideal time to stock up on basic day-to-day items – t-shirts, jeans and hosiery etc. I always look for jackets, jeans and footwear in the sales. These are things that you can always incorporate in your wardrobe (excluding, of course, the pea-green disaster of last year).

Avoid anything that is too far removed from what you would normally wear, look for classic items that can be worn over and over again. That said, if something fanciful catches your eye and the price is right – go for it! Just be sure you’ll actually wear it, think about what you already have that you can wear it with. A good rule to follow is not to buy anything that has less than four separate items in your existing wardrobe that you can team it with. There is nothing more tragic that an item of clothing hanging unworn, with label still on, in the back of a wardrobe.

A versatile must-have for any wardrobe!

The Very sale is in full swing, here are my top three picks;

1. Being completely practical – jeans. I never throw jeans away, I wear them until they fall apart (and am always a little sad when it comes to saying goodbye to a pair). These  Ted Baker jeans are the most versatile and flattering style of all – bootcut and indigo – and at £63.00 they’re a bargain saving you £36.00

A good investment from South

2. A suede jacket – ok so not the most obvious of choices but at £39.50 (half price) this is a real bargain! Tan coloured, butter-soft, suede to embrace the neutral trend well into the Autumn months and beyond. How can you not invest in this?

Great colour, great style!

3. A label for less. This gorgeous French Connection top is reduced from £39.00 to £21.00, saving you £18.00. It is a stunning colour and is a style that won’t date.
