Surviving the Summer Holidays

I’ve been having a sneaky peek at Very.co.uk’s new ‘Surviving the Summer Holidays’ promotion and I have to say it looks great – loads of ideas to keep your kids entertained over those long six weeks in the sun.

Here’s a brief look at some of the ideas for getting through those long weeks.

Outdoor Fun

Well, we all know that when the sun is out the kids will want to be outside in the garden. Get inspired with some garden activities and toys like trampolines, football goals, slides and even inflatable swimming pools in the ‘outdoor fun’ section at Very.co.uk.

Days Out

There are plenty of ideas for inspiration here – get up and close with wildlife at a safari park, visit a national trust site, have a family photo shoot, book a tour of your favourite football ground or let your little ones cook up a storm. A great idea for family days out – or a special treat for those with summer birthdays.

Bike Ride

There’s nothing more fun that enjoying the sun with your family on a bike ride so make sure you’re prepared with some fantastic family bikes, helmet and accessories to make sure you are caught short. Don’t forget to pack a picnic in your rucksack and no doubt there’ll be a well deserved ice cream at the end of it.

Garden Party

Have a get together with family and friends and have a garden party or barbeque to celebrate the sunshine! Put the sausages on the BBQ, pour the wine and turn up the music – but don’t forget that you’ll need some garden furniture so everyone will have somewhere to sit!

Camping

Explore the great British outdoors and embark on a family camping adventure. Get everything you need to sleep under the stars – including tents, sleeping bags, seating and torches! Remember the Boy Scout motto: Be Prepared!

Rainy days

Unfortunately, this is the UK. Which means that as sunny as it is as the moment, that doesn’t mean that the fine weather will soon be over and we’ll see a downpour to put a dampener on our spirits. Make sure your kids are entertained by stocking up on classic board games (we’ve had games of monopoly that have gone on for days in our house!) and the latest electronic gaming consoles and games. There are also plenty of activity based and creative games in stock too.
