Trends for Spring 2011

My top purchases of 2010 are definitely those that I will continue wearing into 2011.

The stripe top
I wrote about the versatility of the stripe top early in 2010.  I liked and wore this top so much I ordered a second! For the daytime I added jeans and a floral scarf and for a night out a blazer and skinny jeans with a clutch bag and statement necklace. It also looks great with combats or a full skirt… the list really is endless.

The new Spring collection has a great selection of stripe tops.

Nail polish.
I discovered Nails Inc. and their up-to-the-minute shades in July 2010. Nail polish is a great way to update an outfit and keep it current.

The Brook Street shade travelled all the way to Zanzibar with me and looked fab in the Indian Ocean!

The festive season saw rich, glittery shades taking centre stage but as we move into Spring softer, paler shades, like this Nails Inc. Sorbet Collection, will take the lead.

Lace has been tipped as a hot trend again this coming season. I treated myself to this Oasis dress and even though it isn’t something I would normally wear it remains one of my favourite frocks. I’m looking forward to being able to wear it in the warmer months – until now I have teamed it with black opaque hosiery, wedge shoeboots and a tuxedo jacket.

Check out Very’s new Spring collection for the lace trend…

Long sleeve t-shirt
Every wardrobe needs good, basic staples and I have mentioned this Love Label long sleeve t-shirt on more than one occasion. I’m glad to say that a few seasons on it is still being stocked. It’s available in black, nude, slate and white – one (or two) of each will cover all eventualities.
