My Very eventful desert holiday!

Earlier last year was delighted to hear I had won a holiday “Funny Photo” competition after entering this hilarious picture of my mom and her husband in Lanzarote.

I was jumping with joy as Holiday Hypermarket selected my picture as a winner and I chose to surprise my mom with a surprise trip to Tunisia.

Sadly our holiday was switched last minute because of the Tunisian riots in January so the delightful Lauren from their Facebook page swiftly switched our holiday to an upgraded 4 star resort in Egypt.

As I have never been to Egypt before I was gobsmacked and swiftly threw a few more Bikinis into my case to catch some winter sun.

Touching down in Sharm El Sheikh we were greeted by a warm blast of air, no more winter wear for me I thought as I slung my coat over my case.

We had booked a trip to Cairo but had to switch the trip to a desert safari after the Protests started the day previously. This proved a wise choice as we didn’t find out till later that if we had gone then we would certainly have been trapped amongst the trouble.

Thankfully our desert safari proved to be a great day out- after a thought provoking trip to see the burning bush where Moses received the ten commandments.

We were then rushed to the Nuweiban desert where our Bedouin driver gave us a hair-raising drive through the dunes until he took mercy and left us whilst we trekked through the desert canyons where we spotted snake tracks and our guide pointed out local medicinal plants that survive against all odds.

We then travelled onto Dahab where we were treated to lunch at a seafront restaurant and we all gazed rather wistfully into the aqua water that brushed the restaurant walls.

Thanks to our guide and driver we felt we had a true insight into the desert life and it was a subdued journey that took us reluctantly back home to lively Sharm.

The following day we felt a day of relaxation was in order so after a day on the beach so we then treat ourselves to a pedicure at the hotel spa.

Why not recreate my cute tootsies with this all you need pedicure set by Champney’s or go all out and treat yourself and a special friend to a Luxury Virgin Pedicure from Very’s Experience Day Collection. I know that I will be maintaining my feet now at home so I can treat myself to some more sandals this summer!

Sadly our holiday was over all too soon and we had to make that dreaded journey home to our worried families and friends.

We were asked many times if we were in any danger at all on holiday but I can honestly say we felt safe and welcomed by the Egyptian people and I for one wish them well and hope they find a solution to their troubles so we can visit this beautiful country once more.

Finally I would like to thank holiday hypermarket for giving us this opportunity to see Egypt and all the help that Lauren provided us with- I could not have wished for a better holiday.

Why not find out what I wore tomorrow in my following Blog -From Bikinis to belly Piercings– If it’s Very then you just know I was wearing it!
