Katy Perry – the new Mrs Russell Brand – visited the UK for Comic Relief and it’s fantastic to see married life has not diminished her sense of style.
The I Kissed A Girl singer is looking so stunning right now that we all want to dress like her.
The dress she wore to do some shopping while in London was exquisite with long sleeves and a pretty print featuring swans – an ideal day to night dress.
Floaty sleeves will protect her from the spring breeze yet she won’t be sweaty or under-dressed if she wore it to a club.
The pop Princess is on a whirlwind visit to the UK – performing at London’s Hammersmith Apollo, helping Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles’ 52 hour on-air marathon as well as shopping…
So how much time does it take Katy to get ready and how does she stay looking good with such a packed schedule? Find out in our fashion interview below.
QS: Has your style changed since you became famous?
KATY: “When I first started playing around with my look, it was more of a Dita Von Teese pinup thing. But the burlesque look is too high maintenance. Dita’s really dedicated.”
QS: How would you describe your style?
KATY: I say it’s rockabilly chic. I was obsessed by the whole swing-dancing, lindy hop scene. It was totally different from anything I’d seen or anything that was going on so I made it my own with cute skirts and mini dresses”
QS: What items do you like for spring / summer?
QS: What colours are you liking right now?
KATY: “I like patterns. I like things that make me laugh. I love cute things. The other day I wore a dress with a constellation on it. “
QS: Do you have any style icons?
KATY: “Lolita is my style icon. We’re very innocent but tiger inside. We know what we’re doing but we come across very innocent.”
She definitely knows what shes doing when it comes to fashion but the good news is we can all copy her with clothes from Very. If it’s patterns you want, check out the Rene Dehry embellished dress with fresh flower detail rather than swans
The Fearne Cotton printed bead collar dress features a fun countryside pattern
Or the Diesel jersey printed dressis also patterned with summer florals
Katy completes the look with some knee high boots similar to the South pedro high leg slouch boots, which are brilliant value at Very at just £32
And look closely and you’ll see Mrs Brand is wearing a necklace with the initial R to remind her of her husband Russell when she’s on tour. You can get a 9 carat yellow gold and cubic zirconia letter pendant from Very for just £36
Katy’s European tour is on until November with more dates in London as well as Sheffield, Liverpool, Birminghm, Cardiff and Glasgow. Let’s hope she can continue having fun with fashion as the work drags on.
