With a month to go to the Royal Wedding (and an extra bank holiday – Yay!) I have to admit to getting a little caught up in the royal wedding frenzy. I actually can’t wait to see ‘The Dress’. Especially after Vivienne Westwood said that Kate Middleton ‘needs to catch up a bit somewhere with style’. April is going to be all eyes on Kate and her dress will have to tread a fine line between appropriate (for a future Queen), stylish (but not too trendy) and timeless (but not frumpy). It’s a tall order and let’s face it, no matter what, not everyone will like it.
Vivienne Westwood’s comments aside, Kate’s style is a clear inspiration. The blue Issa dress she wore for the announcement of the engagement sold out in seconds, with copycat dresses doing the same. The same applies to the cream Reiss dress of her official engagement photographs.
What do you wear to a Royal Wedding? Fascinators will be plentiful I can guarantee you that much. Are you provided with a dress code over and above the normal ‘suits for men and hats for the ladies?’
I’ve seen some fabulous memorabilia, some tongue-in-cheek, some simply awful and some so bad they’re brilliant! These Kate and Wills nail polishes from Nails Inc. are my sort of thing. I love their little gem ‘crowns’ and although they won’t last forever, to turn up decades from now on the Antiques Roadshow, they did at least make me chuckle and I’d happily wear either shade.
Will you be celebrating on April 29th? I rather like the idea of a street party, you can’t beat a bit of bunting!
