Cat Deeley’s Royal Wedding Style Tips

Cat Deeley is keeping calm despite having a stressful role on the Royal Wedding day when she has to host the coverage for international news channel CNN.

The former SMTV kids presenter is also back on regular Saturday night television with So You Think You Can Dance, showing that she’s laying down roots in the UK again after a couple of years of living in LA.

She moved to the states when she got a job on the US version of the dancing talent contest, and adapted to LA life buying a new home and finding a younger boyfriend.

But now single again, the former SMTV presenter is spending more time this side of the Atlantic – first for a shampoo commercial and now to do Saturday night TV with the panel of judges Nigel Lythgoe, Louise Nurding, Arlene Phillips and Cisco Gomez.

And what’s so nice about working during the week is it means she has time to relax during the week, which is what she was photographed doing – looking laid-back and effortlessly cool as she made the most of a rare bit of sunshine in London.

The LA lifestyle is more relaxed than in the UK, with the fashion more casual and it seems that’s had an effect on Cat, who wore a gorgeous vintage style lace top with flared jeans for a day off in the capital.

Cat’s got experience with fashion as her first break was as a model after being spotted at the clothes show live in Birmingham, so find out some of her style tips in our mini interview below:

QS: How do people in LA react to your style?

CAT: Their aesthetic is very different. In the USA, fashion is more standard and people look quite similar. People think I am a bonkers English woman as I tend to do my own thing.

“I use a lot of accessoriesto make it my own and I don’t like anything too matchy matchy.”

QS: Did you feel pressure to conform to the LA body type when you moved to the States?

CAT: “I’m very fortunate as I knew who I was before I got into this industry and I know that if I’m hungry or have just had a banana then I can’t work. And if you’re not good at your job you won’t get more work so that’s always been my priority. I think you should be confident in your own body shape and listen to your body.”

QS: What have you learned from living in LA?

CAT: “The vintage stores are amazing in LA.  Seriously incredible. I remember I once found a gorgeous maxi dress for £45. And then I got a silver dress for £10.”

QS: Do you know what you are wearing on the royal wedding day?

CAT: “I’m going to wear a smart dress by Mulberry. I wanted to wear a British designer on the big day.”

QS: Do you know what the bride is wearing?

CAT: “I’ve heard she’s got three designers dressing her and will pick at the last minute but I think she should wear a British designer. She should tip her hat to the creative genius in this country and champion the talent of UK fashion.”

Cat’s a true English rose and if you’d like to be like her then start with a vintage inspired lace top. The Love Label scallop lace topfrom Very is similar to the TV presenters pretty t-shirt

The Savoir lace trim top is a bit brighter but with similar gorgeous lace detail

Or the Lipsy vintage style lace parchment blouse is good for slightly chilly days

For a pair of cute flare jeans like Cat’s try the South high rise kitty kickflare jeans

And don’t forget the finishig touches! The Dune nile laser cut wedgeslook gorgeous with flares making everyone’s legs look longer

Oversize bags are great for busy people and make you look slimmer. The Nica knot bow tote is currently reduced to £39 from £65

With this stunning outfit, you’ll be ready for anything. It’s a cute daytime look, but you can easily wear it for summertime drinks or a meal with friends.

Welcome back, Cat Deeley!
