The Glee tour has hit the UK and that means the stars are starting to check out British nightlife. Dianna Agron, who plays Quinn Fabray, was spotted at the Hard Rock Calling Festival with Darren Criss, who plays Blain and their on-screen teacher Mr Schuster, aka Matthew Morrison.
They were rocking out to The Killers, showing that they had singing and dancing skills in real-life as well as on the TV show. Sue Sylvester would be proud!
However, off-screen Dianna dresses more conservatively than her former cheerleader character. On Glee, she’s very feminine but she was dressed more practical at the festival in London’s Hyde Park.
Still, she manages to look gorgeous – sometimes wearing well-cut basics can make you get noticed for looking effortlessly chic rather than wearing bright colours that can attract attention for the wrong reasons.
Here’s a closer look:
Very caught up with the TV star for an exclusive chat about fashion
QS: Are you a fan of fashion?
DIANNA: I love clothes. I like all the classic designers, but then I also love new, youthful and creative styles. I love experimenting with printed dresses and then covering up with cardigans, just in case.
QS: What did you wear when you auditioned for Glee?
DIANNA: “I’d gotten a callback that said, “Please come back, wear something sexy” — not my forte — “and have straight hair.” I had an hour to get there from another audition, and I was wearing the same vintage dress — my go-to audition outfit that week — but I bought a straightener that I used in a Starbucks bathroom.”
QS: Which of your Glee castmates have you learned the most from?
DIANNA: Lea Michele has taught me how to stand up for myself more, like realizing that I can’t be in 10 places at the same time. She’s also very protective. She’s very feminine and I love to borrow her dresses.”
QS: Now that your Glee character Quinn’s not a Cheerio, is it weird or freeing, not to be in that red cheerleader costume anymore?
DIANNA: I prefer having clothes! Our costume designer, Lou Eyrich, she’s amazing. I love actually seeing her, since we have fittings now. She always whips together really great stuff.
QS: How would you describe your personal sense of style?
DIANNA:It’s very eclectic. When I go to award shows and things like that, I think it’s okay to take risks – but I don’t like to go too crazy with it. On a day-to-day basis, I love vintage clothes, but I also love dressing however I feel that day. One day, I might want to dress like a boy. Another day I might want to put on a pretty, vintage, girly teacup dress. I think you can express so much of yourself through the way you dress and I am very much a girl in that sense.
For a simple yet sophisticated outdoor outfit like Dianna’s you need to start with a suit jacket that is formal but fitted. The Coleen contrast cuff tailored jacket is fitted to the waist and your arms look slimmer thanks to the white cuff detail
Combine it with a basic top that is well-fitted but simple. The white Love Label long sleeve jersey top is now just £6
Prepare against the chill with a cute coloured scarf or snood. The French Connection Lucky Snood is very similar to Dianna’s
If you want some jeans that emphasise your bottom and slim your thighs then bootcut jeans are the best. Try the new Levi’s demi curve bootcut jeans for the all-American look like Dianna’s
They look even better with a simple but stylish black belt like the new Diesel Brenda leather belt
The Glee tour is in the UK until 3 July but for those who can’t get tickets, it will be filmed for a DVD and released in August so everyone can sing and dance at home. Fabulous!
