Ginni has been a celebrity makeup artist for 15 years and during her career she has travelled the world working for magazines like Glamour, Vogue, Elle and Marie Curie. Kelly Brook is one of her regulars and she has also worked with Kate Winslet, Cat Deeley and Denise Van Outen. She prides herself on making the best of every woman and says she will relish the challenge of any dilemmas you may have, so don’t be shy, post your question to Ginni here.
We wanted to get to know Ginni a bit more so we asked her a few questions and she told us about how she wanted to be an Olympic Swimmer, her most embarrassing experience and how she was born in Ibiza! We all want Ginni to come and do our makeup for us!!
Ginni, when are you at your happiest?
I’m happiest when I’m near the sea and the sun is shining. I was born in Ibiza and definitely think I’m suited to warmer climates but I’m lucky enough to have a job that takes me away to tropical locations for my sun and sea fix.
When you were a child what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be an Olympic Swimmer but gave up when I was 14 years old. I couldn’t do the 5am starts before school and then after school. I have huge respect for all the dedicated athletes as the training is intense.
When was the last time you cried?
Watching Nims Island with my children. I have to admit I’m a big softy. They both turned around and said ‘Mum it’s ok her dad is still alive!!’
What is your worst habit?
Well I actually don’t think I have any but my husband will tell you otherwise…I’m constantly forgetting my keys. I’m actually on the doorstep at the moment waiting for him to come home! I must remember to give my neighbours a set!! We’ve just moved and this is the second time it’s happened.
What can’t you leave home without?
My keys!!!! No joking aside, I always carry my fragrance it keeps me refreshed and gives me a pick me up and mints – always have to have fresh breath, I’m paranoid as I work so closely with people. I love Tom Ford White Patchouli.
What you be doing if you wasn’t doing this job?
I would have loved to have been an artist living in the South of France capturing the beautiful landscapes.
What is the highlight of your career so far?
The highlight was heading my first fashion show an incredible process and then having to make-up Kate Moss, Sophie Dahl, Helena Christiensen, Esther Canadas all in the same show.
Do you have any top tips to get a job like yours?
Work hard and focus on what you want. I’m always watching trends old and new.
Do you have a secret celebrity crush?
I love Bradley Cooper and the Greys Anatomy doctor, can’t remember his name? I still think Brad’s pretty hot!!
What’s your most humiliating experience?
Fire alarm in the gym and having to rush out of the shower onto one of the busiest streets in a towel and of course bump right into my ex with panda eyes and dripping wet hair!
Which item in your wardrobe would shock the fashion police?
Going through my wardrobe with a friend she was appalled that I had a bleached denim skirt with red and clear diamantes. I’ve still got it as it cost me an arm and a leg.
What’s the first single you ever bought?
Tears for Fears, ‘Everybody wants to rule the world’.
