Hit the Golf Course on British Open Week

This week, Britain goes golfing mad. Just after we got over the ‘Murray Mania’ of Wimbledon, the Open Championship comes along to put the sport of golf on the map.

The difference here however is that, unlike Wimbledon, the Brits are going in as some of the favourites to lift the famous Claret Jug.

Rory McIlroy, who is enjoying a superb season after his US Open victory last month, is the hot favourite with the bookies whilst the Northern Irishman will have fellow Brits, Lee Westwood and Luke Donald, as his main competition at the Royal St George’s Club.

And, as Wimbledon seems to lead to every tennis court in the country being booked up, The Open tends to send a surge of people to local golf courses for one weekend a year.

Of course, golf isn’t exactly an inexpensive hobby. Whilst you can avoid those sky-high membership and course fees at a local municipal course, there is still plenty of equipment that you’re likely to need as you hit the links. Of course, you can hire clubs, bags and all the rest but nothing quite compares to your own equipment.

We could, at those point, go on for pages and pages about individual clubs, bags, balls, tees and everything in between that you are likely to need but, instead, we’re going to keep things simple and highlight this Longridge Alpha II 32-piece Graphite Set, which comes with everything that you are likely to need!

This 32-piece package is the ultimate gift box set for the beginner or developing golfer. It provides the golfer with Titanium Marix woods, which combine hybrid and iron technology for maximum forgiveness and playability, along with carry bag, steel trolley and many essentials required to play golf (including the umbrella!). Put simply, with this package you have everything you need to play the game.

For the younger players, this Longridge Challenger Cadet Junior Package, designed specifically with junior golfers in mind, might be more suitable.

Bright colours combined with advanced technology make this set attractive and fun, as well as being easy to use. Junior challenger 4-piece set includes a driver, 7 & 9 irons, a putter, stand bag and head cover. The clubs are all fitted with Graphite shafts that are both bright and appealing.

But what if you want to actually hone your skills before you hit the course? Well, this Colin Montgomerie Deluxe Golf Practice Net can help.

This deluxe golf practice net, measuring 305 x 213 x 15 cm, is easy to set up and is ideal for practising those important shots. The durable construction will enable prolonged practice. Improve your game while practising in the comfort of your own back garden.

Finally, if we are hitting a proper golf course, we’re going to need some power in our shots, which is where this PGA Tour power play impact training bag comes in.

Simply fill the bag with old clothes and blankets and swing away. The idea being that, with this training aid, you’ll improve the strength of your swing and achieve those all important extra yards!
