Lipstick is the only thing women don’t stop buying and even in an economic crisis sales seem to have rocketed. This season has seen the rival of “bright” fushia pinks, tangerine oranges and yes the old classic bright red. The fact is that applying lipstick and mascara can make you feel instantly more put together and can brighten any dreary day.
As the saying goes ‘smile and the world smiles with you’… cry and you cry alone! So lets get down to learning how to PERFECT the perfect pout.
Flaking dry lips get in the way of the perfect lipstick application. Take out a toothbrush and gently give them a once over. Afterwards apply a lip balm like one of my favourite ones Elizabeth Arden ‘Eight hour cream’. This is a great investment as it lasts forever.
The trick to make your lipstick last when using a bright or neutral lipstick is to line your lips with a pencil first as this will stop feathering.
To get an even symmetrical mouth begin lining at the cupids bow and make a soft and round ‘M’. This is the trend, not pointy or too harsh, then from outer corner bring in the line to meet the M then fill in.
Draw a straight line on the lower lip in the middle of the cupids bow and again bring the outer corners to meet the line and then colour.
Using your chosen lipstick colour apply lipstick using a lip brush for perfect application. Split a tissue and using one sheet cover lips and powder over the tissue.
Then apply the lipstick again. Have you tried Daniel Sandler’s Pillar box red lipstick or Barry M’s Vibrant Pink? – both hot for this summer!
For a natural and strong lip and not such a statement, start by prepping the lips with lip balm. Then using a lip pencil Benefits Sketching lip pencil and crayon, line and fill them in with the pencil. The lip pencil and balm will work together and make your lips seem fuller. Apply face powder around the lips both to lighten the surrounding skin and to make sure the Lip Balm doesn’t move outside the lips. Have a look at Vaselines tinted lip Balms which are amazing and wont put a hole in your pocket!
