How to Wear Beatnik by V-Team Kirsty

Now here’s a style that suits every body shape in one way or another.  It’s 50’s Beatnik.  Go for skinny knits and a full skirt or skinny shirts and cropped trousers or fitted tops and pencil skirts.

Let’s start with the skinny knits and full skirt look. It’s perfect for the hourglass as it complements her curves. It’s spot on for the pear shape as it camouflages her hips. It’s ideal for the apple as a corset top or belt will cinch in those curves. Ditto straight up and down ladies and last but by no means least our top heavy girl will be balanced out with the full skirt. It’s a look that’s all about the waist.

For the top half, how about this Love Label Crochet Back Cardigan.  It will go with everything and has a Wow back detail or a Fairisle Knitted Cardigan by Coleen. The Fairisle knit is so on trend.  Spots are very 50’s and this fitted Spot Cardigan by Holly Willoughby ticks both boxes.

Wear with Diana Vickers oh so cute Bird Embroidered Vintage Skirt and you have that fierce hourglass silhouette done and dusted.

If a knit is too covered up go for this Corset Top by Diana Vickers . Looks amay-zing with skinny cropped jeans.

If you can’t find cropped jeans then turn your own up twice and choose a faded vintage wash like these Diesel Hi-Vy Skinny Leg Jeans or be brave go for colour like these Coloured Skinny Jeans by Love Label .

A fitted shirt looks fab with skinny jeans too. Try this Fitted Shirt by Coleen and add a scarf at the neck like this one in silk dogtooth check Cat No: JB09017.

Skinny jeans are best avoided by hourglass and pear shaped girls as we tend to carry our weight around our thighs but are perfect for boyish figures and apples, as they usually have great slim legs. Finish off with authentic shaped kitten heeled pointy toed shoes like these Fearne Cotton Tobias Kitten Heel Velvet Shoes or these Fearne Cotton Lovett Kitten Heel Patent Shoes.

A striped top is Beatnik to a T and this one with extra lace detail by Awear Striped Peter Pan Top is on the money. The Love Label Bardot top comes in three colourways.  The animal print is soooo 50’s as is this beautiful French Connection Vaity Lace Top.

If you want to look a little smarter go for a Love Label Tie Collar Spot Blouse. Wear any of these tops with a tight pencil skirt like this South Drape Skirt. Very Joan Holloway/Christina Kendricks in Mad Men.

Add a skinny belt like this Bow Front Belt if you have a defined waist or a wider belt like this Twist Lock Wide Belt if you need to cinch in a waist.

A pair of these darling Miss KG Minnie 2 Bow Court Shoes or these Head Over Heels Leopard Print Court Shoes  make me go weak at the knees. I’m so in love with this look.
