Now that summer is officially here it can be hard to think about anything else except jetting off for sunnier shores. But there’s always the dilemma of what to pack, or perhaps what not to pack – after all, there’s limited space, so what do you really need?
Here’s our guide to those summer essentials you shouldn’t leave home without.
Swimwear – If you’re heading to the beach then you’ll need swimwear. Of course every body shape is different but whatever you’re wearing, make sure you’re on trend in rainbow brights and funky patterns. We love this pretty Atlantis bikini, or why not opt for a 50s style swimsuit for more coverage, try this polka dot swimsuit from resort.
Kaftan– When else do we get to wear a pretty, sheer top other than in summer? Not only do kaftans make excellent cover ups for the beach, but they’re also a stylish option for the evening too. We like this pretty zebra print kaftan, which will go with everything in your suitcase.
Maxi Dress – No summer holiday wardrobe would be complete without a maxi. Hides a multitude of sins, and suits everyone, and will also keep you cool and out of the sun. A perfect outfit for day or night, you should definitely be packing one. The flattering stripes and halterneck style of this South maxi dress, make it a favourite here at Very Blog HQ and can easily be dressed up for the night time with some metallic bangles and towering wedges.
Jumpsuit – This season it’s all about the jumpsuit. If you want a stylish evening option that you can change the look of again and again then a jumpsuit is an easier, less fussy option for your holiday. Change the look with funky bright belts, flats and sandals and loads of different jewellery. Oh, and did we mention how comfy they are too? We love this simple, soft crepe jumpsuit from Oasis for an elegant feel.
Wedges – What holiday suitcase would be complete without some summery wedges? Wedge sandals are great for taking from day to night, and are much better than tottering about in heels. We like this pretty Love Label pair, with funky tie detailing, or opt for a block colour that can be more versatile, such as this pair from Dune.
Sunnies – If the sun is going to be out, then you’ll want to protect your eyes, but still look like a celebrity in disguise. Opt for oversized sunnies that will add a hint of glamour to any outfit.
Hat – This might not be top of your priority list but it’s a must have. Not only does it keep your face/neck out of the sun but it’s also rather handy for when the humidity takes advantage of your hair, leaving it a fuzzy, frizzy mess! We love classic, floppy brimmed hats a la Samantha in the Sex and the City movie.
