Practice For Next Year’s TV Talent Shows

For the next few weeks, Saturday night television is a very different place as two huge talent shows go head-to-head in the ratings war.

This year, a Cowell-less X Factor is finding the going tough against Bruce Forsyth and Strictly Come Dancing, but both shows continue to pull in millions of viewers.

The shows also act as a source of inspiration for many, with fans often deciding to pick up the mic or put on their dancing shoes after seeing the young hopefuls and hapless celebrities perform under the spotlight. And that got us thinking here at Very HQ – can we get a little bit of extra practice before we head for next year’s audition queue?

Well we think you can, with the help of your games console.

Gadgets like XBOX Kinect, Playstation Move and the Nintendo Wii have all brought the concept of “action” gaming to life, so how can we use those to perfect that high note or work on that one-two step?

Well, seeing as we mentioned X Factor from the start, let’s look at the Playstation The X Factor with Mic game.

Begin your journey to stardom, like the thousands of others, by competing in the famous X-Cruciating Auditions, Boot Camp X-Treme and finally fulfilling your dreams by performing in the X-Ceptional Live Shows.

Sing along as either a group or solo act to 28 tracks, including Lady Gaga, Pixie Lott and U2 – and along the way unlock bonus tracks and unique clothing items to customize your avatar.

Nintendo Wii fans can also enjoy Nintendo Wii We Sing UK which also gives you the chance to try your hand at 30 chart topping tracks from leading artists in various signing competitions, including solo, group battle, pass the mic and karaoke.

So that’s the singing perfected, but what about the dance moves? Well, with XBOX 360 Kinect Dance Central, you can really work on your choreography.

Completely free from any controller, every routine has authentic choreography for beginners and experts alike to master, alongside a killer soundtrack that spans todays current pop, hip-hop and R&B artists. Take it step-by-step with Break It Down or jump right in and start performing for your family and friends. Either way, you won’t just learn dance moves, you’ll own the dance floor.

Finally, we’ll try to combine the two together in Playstation 3 Singstar and Dance.

Take your SingStar experience to the next level with PlayStation Move. Strut your stuff solo or get moving with a partner up to four players can sing and dance with two microphones and 1 (or 2) PlayStation Move motion controllers. Follow the on-screen dancer the better your moves, the better your score!
