Exclusive Red Carpet Interview: Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Premiere

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is one of the bestselling book trilogies of all times so the stars of the film adaptation felt the pressure at the film’s glamorous premiere. Very was there and we have to say that the lead actress, Rooney Mara, did not disappoint when it came to her outfit. The dress was magical – the complete opposite of what her Tomboy, goth character wears in the film. The film is released on 26 December and if you see Rooney’s character and look at her below, you will be shocked!

Very made the most of the opportunity on the red carpet to exclusively chat to Rooney and find out how making the film had changed her life and her approach to fashion. Here’s a mini interview:

VERY: Has playing a fierce gothic character changed the way you dressed in real life?

ROONEY:  “Yes! Before, I dressed much girlier. A lot of blush-coloured things. Now I literally roll out of bed and put on whatever is there. I have really enjoyed being a boy this last year.”

VERY: What was your favourite part of the costume?

ROONEY: “I miss the big worker style boots. I’ll probably never wear them again but they were cool in the film.”

VERY: Would you like to try to be more feminine again? Is the dress a way to get back in touch with your girly side?

ROONEY:  “It was harder coming out of my character’s style than getting into it. I am trying but there is still a degothing period going on.”

VERY: How do you feel when you watch the movie back?

ROONEY: “Actually I haven’t watched it all the way back yet. I worry there is bits I would find too disturbing.”

VERY: What was the most difficult thing about doing the film?

ROONEY: “One of the things that make our version that much more heartbreaking is that even though I am playing a 24-year-old, I look much younger. I look like a child.”

She did not look like a child on the red carpet though! Her white maxi dress meant everyone took notice of her. While it’s difficult to get an exact copy of it at Very, you can aim for a similar effect with a romantic inspired Not So Serious Maxi Dress (below left). Or go for long and flowing in a Holly Willoughby Embellished Shoulder Maxi Dress (below right)

On the other hand, sometimes you cannot beat black and silver for a red carper event. The Made In Chelsea reality TV stars really made the effort for the premiere and the E4 series’ star Cheska Hull pulled off a stunning black maxi dress with a scoop back. It’s quite similar to the Teatro bead and sequin halter maxi dress at Very – both are stunning!

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo will be in cinemas nationwide from Boxing Day! x
