Your Guide To A Happy Gaming Christmas

If you’re looking to buy your family a games console for Christmas, here are a few things to keep in mind!

1) Decide which console to buy

The main consoles are the Nintendo Wii, the Xbox 360, and Sony Playstation 3. Keep in mind that the Xbox does not come with the Kinect (the system that allows you to play games without a controller) and you’ll have to buy that extra. Thankfully, you can buy both the Xbox and the Xbox Kinect in a bundle so that it’s cheaper! My advice is that Nintendo Wii is great for families, an Xbox Kinect is for gamers of all ages and families who would rather play games without a controller, and that a Playstation 3 is for your more geeky gamers.

2) Buy extra controller(s)!

If you’re buying a Wii, Xbox 360 or Playstation 3, remember that most only come with one controller. Check the details of what exactly comes with the console you’re buying, and be sure to purchase an extra controller (or three) if you’re hoping for you’re family to be able to play together. (Another perk of the Xbox Kinect is that you don’t have to worry about how many controllers it comes with!)

3) Check for extras!

Some games require extras – for example Mario Kart comes with a wheel, and you’ll need to purchase another Wii Wheel if you want to play a two-player race. Other games for the Wii will need a nunchuck, and extra systems like the Wii Fit or the uDraw tablet are extra.

4) Games!

Most consoles only come with one game at the most, so be sure to buy extra games or buy a bundle that comes with numerous games and their accessories! Just make sure that you’re purchasing a game for the right console.
