It may have been the Dancing On Ice Valentine’s Special, but it wasn’t all lovely for some as Jennifer Ellison slashed her head open and Rosemary Conley was voted out of the skating show. Elegant Rosemary lost in the skate off to ski-er Chemmy Alchott.
Very can exclusively reveal that the after-show bar for contestants and their families was almost empty this week due to shock over what had happened to Jennifer Ellison, who cut open her head with the skate live on the ice and needed emergency treatment. Normally the bar at Elstree studios is as packed as it is on Big Brother eviction nights but there was a subdued atmosphere after this show. The skaters are getting tired and we’re not surprised! We’ll miss Rosemary, but here’s some exclusive behind the scenes gossip to remind us what’s great about the show:
The ex Brookside actress spent more time practicing than anyone else this week, impressing Torvill and Dean who commented on her determination. But sadly nothing could have prepared her for the freak injury, as she kicked herself in the head while doing a Scorpion lift. (That’s pretty flexible!) Thankfully Jen didn’t need hospital as she was treated at the side of the stage after her performance where she commented: “It helps a lot that I’m pretty much recovered from the injury on my ribs, and now this. What next?” Let’s hope things get better from now on…
The Hollyoaks actress is favourite to win the show, but we did hear her talking about aches and pains earlier in the week. “The physical side of it is very hard, especially because I’m not the sort of person who exercises regularly,” Jorgie told a group of fans outside the studio. “ I haven’t exercised properly for about three years, since I’ve been in Hollyoaks really. So skating in itself is a real, real challenge. It really tones your body, it’s a great workout.” Glad to see she’s taking the falls on the chin – Jorgie could go all the way.
Christine seemed more releaxed than ever this week and it could be because she’s shown there’s no animosity between her and Holly Willoughby. This week, Christine was a guest on Holly’s show Celebrity Juice and got on so well that they ended up going for a double date dinner with Holly’s husband Dan and Christine’s fiancé Frank Lampard. With the rumours of tension out the way, Christine can relax and present the show and she did look like a weight had been lifted from her mind as she wore a gorgeous red maxi dress. Have you got anything lovely and red in your wardrobe yet? It’s great for a date night! Check out the Teatro satin maxi dress.
REMAINING CONTESTANTS: Coronation Street star Andy Whyment, free runner Sebastien Foucan, TV presenter Sam Nixon, singer Chico and Emmerdale actor Matthew Wolfenden, Hollyoaks star Jorgie Porter, actress Jennifer Ellison, British skier Chemmy Alcott and Sugababe Heidi Range will all be back next Sunday on ITV1.
