1950’s trend for your body shape

Girls, the prom dress is one of the sexiest, easiest ways to wear the 50’s trend and it suits ALL bodyshapes. The 50’s was all about emphasis on the waist so it’s fitted above the waist and flared below the waist. Check out this utterly gorgeous South Conversational Print Dress

For a fresh take on this trend see what Prada have done for SS12 called 50’s Americana. It’s a much more fitted silhouette. Start with a pencil skirt (also a winner for all body shapes) like this Savoir Cotton Sateen Printed Pencil Skirt and wear with a shirt or fitted jacket like the Love Label Coloured twill Cropped Jacket in spearmint. The colour is very 50’s Miami and will look amay-zing with the super cute Love Label Palm Print High Waist Shorts too. Very Lana Del Rey.

50’s style Capri pants or cropped trousers are not quite as easy for all body shapes to pull off.  Apple shapes will look great in them (South Supersoft Denim Clam Digger Shorts in indigo). Just add a check shirt for a totes 50’s look like this South Check Sleeveless Tie Front Shirt. Sling a baseball style jacket over the shoulders like this UCLA short quilted logo jacket for full effect.

Hourglass and pear shapes may want to stick with a curves flattering dress. You can’t go wrong with the Fearne Cotton Floral Vintage Dress. Finish all looks off of with the ever so 50’s Lauren Cat’s Eye sunglasses, a handbag like the Guess Talina Tote Bag and Ted Baker Phllesla Open Toe Court Shoes. Now all we need is a 50’s Cadillac for us to stand on whilst singing Go Grease Lightning!!
