It’s that time of year again when we all start looking at the festival line ups and planning which ones we’re gonna spend our pennies at. I’m seriously considering going overseas this year as it was sooooo cold last year, especially at night at Bestival on the Isle of Wight. The theme was Rockstars, Popstars and Divas so my friends and I went as The Supremes (with thermal body stockings on under our dresses). Check us out waiting for The Cure to come onstage. Much later on in the evening we were dancing inside an enormous tree (as you do) and I got chatting to this French girl. We’d been talking for quite a while and then she turned to me and said “So, are you all men then?” Martyn was on the floor in hysterics and Sandra looked as shocked as I felt. Not only did the girl think we looked like men but I SOUNDED like one too. Hmmmm, I am so going to have to make an effort to dress more womanly this year.
It’s ALL about the layering when it comes to UK festivals so let’s start from the inside out (optimistic eh?) Choose a bikini top that’ll go with everything, like the rock chick Resort Fringed Bikini Set or the Missoni inspired Resort Crochet Halter Bikini Set. Wear with a pair of coloured denim shorts. Oasis Cherry Shorts or Firetrap Coloured Denim Shorts are bang on trend. Only for the brave are the Love Label Metallic Knickers – definitely for those that don’t feel the cold. Add a skinny block coloured vest and wear a looser patterned one over it like the Whitney Eve Swinger Crop Tee or Kat Von D Fringed Top (which also makes a good dress). Talking of dresses I heart the Sugarhill Boutique Tie Dye Jersey Dress – tie dye and bright colours make it the perfect festival number. As is the South Floral Printed Day Dress – soooo cute. Boho tops like South Lace Trim Cotton Blouse will look great with hotpants and jeans. Go boho with your bag too and get the Leah Embroidered Shoulder Bag or Pieces Nala Crossover Body Bag. These two are roomy enough for all your festival essentials. Wear the Love Label Bora Bora Leather Cuff Sandals when the sun is shining and Animal Print Rubber Wellington Boots when it’s chucking it down. For chilly nights layer up a South Cropped Denim Jacket and a South Festival Parka. You gotta have a festival hat and the G-Star Raw Combat Safari Hat won’t get squashed when you accidentally sit on it in your tent.
I don’t wanna wear two coats and wellies at festivals this summer so I’m going to Spain. Look out Benicassim, there’s a man/woman on the way who’s after some festival fun…in the sun.
Have a good one!
