This Autumn Winter, ‘JAM by Jameela Jamil’ debuts its first collection for Very.co.uk. Designed by renowned style icon Jameela Jamil, it’s the ultimate injection of quirky glamour for any winter wardrobe. Paint-box primary colours and gorgeous prints combine to create a feel-good fashion line of classic pieces with a red-carpet twist. Jameela describes her collection as “Pieces designed to make every woman feel beautiful”.
A self-confessed ‘bodycon-free zone’ JAM has it all – from cozy knits and ladylike shirts to cute playsuits and Jameela’s signature prom dresses. Slouchy separates for the daytime and cinched in silhouettes for the evening make a statement in retro prints, floaty fabrics and colour pop hues.
Fashionistas looking for something brimming with individuality will love Jameela’s quirky paw print designs, modern take on vintage florals and the must-have jacket of the season – the tangerine mac, (that she calls Kevin) will warm up even the coldest winter day!
Utterly feminine, JAM is all about statement pieces that flatter the figure, elevate style credentials and most importantly, boost confidence. As Jameela says, “confidence is the most attractive thing a woman can wear!” Jameela’s 25 piece collection ranges from £20 – £120 and is available from a size 6 to 20.
Q: So, why did you decide to work with us at Very?
Jameela: “I was beyond chuffed to be approached by VERY to create my own collection. Because I don’t have a particular style, I wear many different types of clothes depending on my mood, depending on how I feel. These are all factors of my life that determine what I’m going to wear and this gave me a chance to create all of them and sketch and create clothes that you cant quite find in the shops. You know whenever you try something on in the shops and are like god I wish this has a smaller waist or puffier sleeves or this was smaller or bigger or bolder and it was my chance to create my own fancy collection.”
Q: We love the orange raincoat, what was your inspiration?
Jameela: “I call it the Kevin cause it was named after my make-up artist Kevin. It’s quite bold and you have to be quite brave to wear it, but the best thing is that it will pick up any outfit. You can wear it with just plain black jeans, black shoes, black top, but it’s just got so much life in it.”
Q: We love the jumper dress, how should we wear it?
Jameela: “I thought I’d go for a 1960s jumper dress feel. It’s made out of cotton but feels like wool, it’s so comfortable. It’s an ode to Bridget Bardot. But my favourite thing about this is that you can wear it if you’re into an over the knee stocking.”
Q: You’re a big fan of maxi dresses, tell us about yours
Jameela: “I think there is nothing sexier than a maxi. This does have quite a slit cause I like to show off a bit of leg. It’s such a vibrant colour and it goes over one shoulder so you’re not showing too much, and it holds you in”.
Q: What did you want to get across with your new collection?
Jameela: “Everything is designed to flatter a woman, it’s built around curves, everything kinda cuts in at the waist and out at the tummy. These are clothes that you can eat in, which is a priority”.
I know what my faves are, what’s yours?
