Get the Beauty Look: Dark Romance

Makeup artist, Nancy Spencer from our This Week In Fashion shoot tells us how she got the hair and makeup look of our gorgeous model…..

Hair – Straight to the point

For perfectly straight locks, blow-dry hair using the Remington DC5017 Luxe Dryer Kit which includes a barrel and a large paddle brush to make drying easy. Taking small sections, go over your hair with the GHD Gold Styler. Using a matte texture powder or dry shampoo, apply the product at the roots of the hair for volume and texture. Rub some extra product in your palms and scrunch around the hair to create a messy grungy feel.   Taking inspiration from the Dolce & Gabanna Autumn/Winter catwalk we finished the look by adding an Ann Summers Lace Eye Mask as a headband.

Eyes – Perfectly smudged

To achieve a long-lasting smoky eye, first draw over the eyes up to the socket with Daniel Sandler waterproof eyeliner in black, continue into the waterline for extra drama. Next rub where you have put the pencil around the edges to make it smudgy. Press over the kohl with NYX eyeshadow Duo in Deep charcoal and midnight to add depth of colour and shine. Overload your lashes with Elizabeth Arden Double Density Maximum Volume Mascara top and bottom, for a fierce flutter.

Skin – All that Matt-ers

Start by perfecting your skin using Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Skin Balancing Lotion. For a lightweight matte base, dust over Dainty Doll loose mineral powder foundation. Add highlighter to lift cheek bones and accentuate collarbones and lengthen limbs – ModelCo Airbrush illuminiser is great for face body and hair.

Brows- Brow Power

Try taking your brows one shade darker, this will frame your gorgeous smoky eyes and add a masculine edge to the look. Brush Rapidbrow through the hairs to promote growth and thickness, followed by NYX Push up Bra Eyebrow pencil to define and taper your brows.

Nails- High Voltage

Start by prepping your hands and nails with Gatineau Vitamina Hand Cream. For gorgeous AW12 nails combine two trends; metallics and blue, by painting each nail with OPI Unfor-greta-bly blue. Have some fun and create a feature nail on each ‘ring finger’. Whilst this nail is still wet, roll in Barry M Dazzle Dust in Electric blue, for a really dense shock of colour. Seal all nails with Nicole by OPI Top coat plus.
