Strictly Come Dancing waltzed back onto our TV screens this week in a whirlwind of sequins, glamour, party dresses and a few surprises. The ones that we’d expected to do spectacularly well seemed to struggle and then out of nowhere came ex Emmerdale actress Lisa Riley who brilliantly Cha Cha Cha-ed to the top spot. Last year, the dancing show was won by McFly’s Harry Judd so it’s about time a girl won it. These are the female contestants in the running and a look at what scores they got in Week One.
A born entertainer, Lisa wowed everyone by lifting her partner Robin off the floor. SCORE: 30
The Girls Aloud singer claimed she was more of a singer than a dancer but she still did spectacularly well. SCORE: 28
Denise Van Outen
Denise said she was disappointed with her performance but it’s a solid score for the first week. I reckon she could be a late bloomer. SCORE: 25
At just 5ft, Dani has the shortest legs out of all the contestants but she knows how to move. There seems to be great chemistry with her partner Vincent Simone. SCORE: 21
Fern may not have been in time at all points but she had a great smile. Her partner Artem is one of the best so things can only improve. SCORE: 19
Former model Jerry Hall seemed to pose more than dance while her partner Anton Du Beke ran ragged around her. She’s the boss in that couple! SCORE: 18
It was an emotional start for the Olympic cyclist as she messed up her routine. I’m sure this will prompt her to try harder and maybe she’ll even be on top next weekend. SCORE 16
I can’t wait until the public get a chance to vote and the competition really starts next weekend. Bring on the ballgowns!
