Stand Up For Comic Relief: The Best Gig Gossip

Every year Comic Relief seems to attract all the biggest stars, it’s so impressive! Emeli Sande is without a doubt one of the biggest and busiest stars this year after performing at The Olympics, winning BRITs and releasing a record breaking album but she took time out to give something back for charity and performed at Wembley for free in aid of Comic Relief. How cool is she?

Even better was that it wasn’t only Emeli that performed and gave her time for free. The Stand Up For Comic Relief gig was organised by comedian Russell Brand who has a huge contacts book so he persuaded tons of comedians and pop stars to join in. So how was it? I know you want to know some celeb goss! One of the most high energy sets was Jessie J who showed she was not just a judge on BBC’s The Voice, she was a real star. Looking incredible in shorts and a crop top, after performing Do it Like A Dude, Jessie hinted that very soon she actually will be looking like a Dude.

Don’t worry, she’s not having a sex change but she is shaving her head! She said her target was to raise £1 million and announced that her sponsorship page is set up if you want to show support. Look at how much she has to lose  – she’s so brave!

Ex Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger added some glamour to proceedings with even shorter shorts and a statement top. She’s got a new song called Boomerang out this month and told us the album that comes out this year will be the most dance-filled album yet. She said it would contain some big collaborations with Will.I.Am and also Dallas Austin, who worked with Britney.

Another highlight of the night was definitely Paloma Faith. The quirky singer said she had lost more than a stone recently – and looked incredible – but her voice was pretty powerful too. She’s just announced that she has a tour of the UK starting this June and is playing at most major festivals and you won’t be disappointed if you check her out.

The comedians that took part included Simon Amstell, Eddie Izzard and Jack Whitehall as well as Russell Brand but it was definitely the pop princesses that added all the glamour. If it’s this good now, how are they going to beat it on the actual Red Nose Day, which is 15 March. I can’t wait to find out!
