Tom Cruise had a gorgeous brunette on his arm at the London premiere of his movie Oblivion – she is actress Olga Kurylenko. Doesn’t it look like there is chemistry between them?
However, before we all get too excited that she has replaced Katie Holmes, Olga is his co-star in the film. Shame! Olga also has a boyfriend already – actor Danny Huston who she met on the set of US TV show Magic City. But her and Tom do look happy in each other’s company, don’t they? And she is STUNNING, especially when she got glammed up for the premiere in a maxi dress!
Olga starred in Quantum of Solace opposite Daniel Craig and Oblivion is just as action packed. The film is about a veteran soldier sent to destroy the alien race and so there’s a lot of battling aliens for the brave star. At the premiere she chatted about how she found the role and why she likes being an action girl. Read on below:
QS: You were a model before you were an actress. Do you miss modelling?
OLGA: ‘No. It was tough. I came to Paris at 16 and thought they’d reject me and send me home at any moment. I ended up staying and it’s been almost 20 years. I liked trying new clothes sometimes, but the pressure was too much.’
QS: You seem to do a lot of action movies. Are you ever going to do a more feminine, girly role?
OLGA: I’m not against playing a sexy role again but it is good to juggle and change. People kept telling me, ‘You’re going to get stuck in this Bond girl thing’, and I was like, ‘Really? Well I guess I will try not to. I like to keep active and be sporty but I do like to dress up sometimes too.’
QS: Do you prefer maxi dresses or short dresses?
OLGA: ‘Maxi dresses are more classy.”
OLGA: I can strip and rebuild a gun in eight seconds. And before fight training I hadn’t really punched anyone before, so learning how to do it properly has been great,”
QS: What’s it like working with Tom Cruise?
OLGA: ‘”I was nervous about meeting him at first but when I met him, he was so open, kind and welcoming,”
QS; Do you have any role models?
OLGA: ‘Poweful women in general. I’ve lived in France since I was 16. Women’s rights were very developed in France and I like that. I remember travelling back to the Ukraine and the way they looked at women shocked me. I’ve thought about speaking out about feminism….”
It sounds like Olga is not just a pretty face. She cares about the world around her and about giving women more respect and she looks hot while she does it. Girl Power!
