The Voice is closing in on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway in the TV ratings wars as the blind auditions spark tons of drama and Twitter debate from viewers at home. I know I’m constantly shouting at my TV on Saturday nights for the judges to turn round or for a popular contestant to pick one judge over another. If I was a singer I’d totally choose Will.I.Am as you never know what to expect and he’d have something to offer all voices. Crazy hair, statement glasses and a wardrobe of clothes as diverse as his all-round taste in music!
This week the first double act (above) made it through to the finals. They are Smith and Jones and they joined Danny O’Donoghue. Katie Smith and Harry Jones are just both 19 and Danny was impressed by their harmonies and guitar tunes. In that case, he probably was the right judge for the job. They’re definitely in my top 5 of most memorable finalists from this week’s show. And I’m also hearing positive vibes about:
Emma Jade Garbutt
Dressed in a lacy red dress and her short blonde curls styled into waves, Emma Jade began her performance of Guns ‘N’ Roses’ Sweet Child O’ Mine. For a while it was touch and go whether anyone would turn round but eventually Tom Jones swung his chair round so the country music inspired singer is through to the final. She must have been so stressed as Tom really did take his time!
Trevor has been a backing singer for some of the world’s biggest stars including P Diddy and Mariah Carey but this weekend was his turn to shine, Jessie J turned round almost immediately, shortly followed by Will.I,Am, but I was shocked to see that Trevor snubbed Will. I hope Jessie does something about his image as his voice is incredible but he could do with some more colourful shirts.
It was second time lucky for Welsh wonder Alys Williams after she impressed all four coaches on ‘The Voice’. The singer and mother-of-two from Caernarfon failed her audition on the BBC show last year but had her pick of the coaches this time after all four turned their chairs for her performance of ‘The Cave’ by Mumford & Sons. She went with fellow Welsh star Tom Jones and I am certain they will have chemistry as hot as her yellow top!
Ragsy is a real personality as well as a fab singer! Before he even took to the stage he was busy wooing This Morning star and presenter Holly Willoughby! Both Tom Jones and Danny turned round for his rendition of Coldplay’s The Scientist but he went with Tom Jones despite having a love of denim just like Danny. But watch out ladies everywhere – Tom and Ragsy are both womanisers together and that could be dangerous.
Who’s your favourite contestant so far? Don’t judge too early as there are more blind auditions next Saturday. I cant wait!
