There was so much crying on BBC’s The Voice this weekend – tears of joy and tears of sadness – as the final few contestants were whittled down. Each judge now has five on their team and it was tough in most instances to pick the singer that stood out the most from the battle round duets. There were a lot of controversial decisions as some of the singers that had done the best in the blind rounds were knocked out. Did you watch it? Here are the top five most dramatic winners.
Mike, photographed above in a grey hooded top with country singer Emma Jade Garbett, impressed Tom Jones with how he could bring the sounds of Nashville to The Voice studio in Salford. However, he was in tears at the end of the show as he became close friends with Emma Jade and felt guilty he’d beaten her. All the judges remarked on the strong chemistry between the pair on stage and now they won’t get to see each other for a while as Mike will go into the intense live shows…and Emma Jade will go home. Bless!
John (above right in the grey suit) beat Liam Tamne (above left) and this almost brought Jessie J to tears. Jessie told Liam that if he’d picked her in the blind auditions he would never be in this place as she loved his voice. Poor Liam, it’s a bit too late to do anything about that, isn’t it? John is now on team Will.I.Am
Indian singer Abi Sampa looked amazing in her gold disco pants and sounded even better. Laura Oakes was good but completely outshone by Abi, who is now one of the stars of Danny O’Donohue’s team. I reckon Abi could go all the way and win.
This was a very controversial one as Karl (above right) beat Nadeem Leigh (above left) who was one of the most popular singers in the blind rounds. Danny admitted he was an idiot for putting the two against each other as he liked both and it looked like Danny was about to cry deciding on just one…Karl. I think Karl looks a bit like Danny with the denim and dark brown hair, I wonder what will happen as they work closely together for the rest of the series?!
Letitia Grant Brown AND Alex Buchanan
This was my favourite battle as both singers seemed to put their heart and soul into it. They had very different styles as Letitia was loud and hearty in an equally bold multi-coloured dress and Alex (a West End performer) moved about the stage more, but both made you want to sit still and listen. Jessie J picked Letitia but Danny O’Donohue stole Alex so they were both through to the semi-finals. Hurrah! A happy ending all round…and tears of joy this time.
Who’s your favourite so far? I can’t wait for the live shows next week. Lets hope it’s equally dramatic!
