The new British movie Rush is set in the classic period of F1 motor racing and the outfits worn by the film’s stars and VIP guests reflected that. Black was the colour of the night as the celebrities swapped their bright summer dresses for something a little bit more sophisticated. My favourite look of the night was that of Olivia Wilde, who is the lead actress in the film. She plays the first wife of motor racing star James Hunt in the movie but she portrayed the look of a strong, independent woman at the premiere in a black trouser suit. The trousers and the tuxedo jacket fit her to perfection!
Olivia revealed the movie is as much about relationships as it is about cars. “It is based on a true story,”she explained. “I play Suzy Miller who was James Hunt’s first wife. Suzy ended up leaving James for Richard Burton, who left Elizabeth Taylor for Suzy. My job in the film was to tell the story of James’s tumultuous marriage. It’s very messy.” Sounds brilliant to me!
Meanwhile. Naomi Campbell went for a little black dress with a twist. I love the cut out sides – it gives the look some va va voom!
I haven’t seen Naomi at a premiere for ages, but that may be because she’s been hard at work on her US reality TV show The Face. It’s a bit like Britain & Ireland’s Next Top model, but with tons of ex-models mentoring the contestants and Naomi’s just learned the format is so successful that it’s been sold to two new countries. We’re going to get it on Sky Living and it will also be on in Australia at the end of the year. Naomi’s doing well right now…
The third way to wear black was modelled by Elsa Pataky, who is the real-life wife of the lead actor Chris Hemsworth. Elsa looked spectacular in a black jumpsuit. That’s really on trend right now, as I saw last week that celebrities like Little Max and AJ Ododu were liking the LBJs (Little Black Jumpsuits).
Elsa is really relieved right now as her husband Chris has just avoided the role in the film adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey. He was in line to play sex predator Christian Grey in the 50 trilogy but it’s just been announced that actor Charlie Hunnam has the role (and the sex scenes) instead. Notice in the photo above that Elsa’s hanging onto her man? She looks happy!
Rush is in cinemas in the UK on 13 September. Think the Fast and Furious movies but with a way better storyline…and Chris Hemsworth is very good eye candy.
