Sports people rarely have the opportunity to wear something glam so when they get the chance they totally make the most of it! It was the Sports Personality of the Year awards in Leeds at the weekend – the Oscars of the sports world – and the suits were slick and the dresses figure-hugging and fabulous.
The overall award went to Andy Murray (voted by the public), while retired Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson won a lifetime achievement award. However, when it comes to fashion this is who looked truly glam:
It seems like life in the I’m A Celebrity Jungle has worked wonders for the Olympic medal winning swimmer, who looked slim and tanned. A green dress is a great colour when you have a bit of a tan and it’s way more exciting to wear than black.
Jessica Ennis-Hill has fought an achilles tendon injury this year, but it must be better given that she’s wearing high heels. The bodycon dress is so flattering on her, isn’t it?
Ben Ainslie and Georgie Thompson
Legendary sailing champion Ben Ainslie and Sky Sports presenter Georgie Thompson make a gorgeous couple, don’t they? Georgie’s white dress looks really festive! Before meeting Ben, she dated Declan Donnelly (from Ant and Dec). I think Ben’s a lot more handsome, so she’s done well. Ben looks delicious in a suit.
Christine is the world’s best 400m runner and she’s also one of the smiliest people in sport. With that smile she could wear anything but the black maxi dress is nice and feminine. Normally we only see her in lycra – this is a big improvement!
Bradley won the Sports Personality of the Year Award in 2012 and it looks like he still has a big personality in terms of his dress sense. When you have to compete against Ben Ainslie who looks divine in a black suit, going for a pinstripe suit is a good option. Well done, Wiggo!
Who do you think looked the best?
