Kimberley Walsh rose to fame as one fifth of the UK’s most successful female band, Girls Aloud. Girls Aloud had a record breaking 20 consecutive Top 10 singles, six platinum albums and won a BRIT Award for Best British Single in 2009.
In 2009 Girls Aloud decided to take a well earned break and Kimberley got stuck into a number of TV projects, which have made her a household name. Projects which have included hosting 2011’s BAFTAS on the red carpet for the E Entertainment Network with Steve Jones; co-hosting “Suck My Pop” for MTV/VIVA, a show which took a weekly look at the world of pop music; a documentary for Sky 1 titled “Blue Jean Girl” which chronicled the history of denim and its place in the fashion world today and saw her travel around the USA; hosting the BBC Live Switch Awards; co hosting The Five O Clock show with Stephen Mulhern; panellist on Let’s Dance for Sports Relief, presenting World’s Greatest Popstar about her idol Beyonce Knowles and Channel’s 4 “50 Greatest Pop Videos” as well as presenting live coverage from South Shields for the X Factor Final!
During the break, Kimberley did not put her music career on hold – she has had a Top 10 hit with rapper Aggro Santos titled “Like U Like”. She has also sung with Ne-Yo for his ITV2 show “One Night Only” and dueted with Jamie Cullum for a Carpenters TV Special singing “Rainy Days & Mondays”. More recently Kimberley dueted with Ronan Keating at the 2012 Olivier Awards, and Alfie Boe at ‘Our Greatest Team Rises’, the official launch party for Team GB and Paralympics GB.
In October 2011 Kimberley took the theatre world by storm with her 8 month leading role as Princess Fiona in Shrek the musical at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. Her outstanding performance was duly recognised by critics, theatre goers and ‘What’s On Stage’, who nominated Kimberley for the ‘Best Takeover In A Role’ award.
Kimberley’s hugely successful stint in Strictly Come Dancing 2012 saw her make moves on the dance floor even Beyonce would be envious of! Impressively Kimberley came joint second with Denise Van Outen and clearly not only wooed the public with her moves but also the judges!
Early 2013 saw Kimberley join her band members in Girls Aloud travelling the UK on their month long ‘Ten’ tour – a celebration of a hugely successful ten years!
Most recently Kimberley has released her first autobiography ‘A Whole Lot of History’ which went straight in at number 5 on the Sunday Times Best Sellers Non-Fiction List on the week of it’s release and let’s not forget she appeared on the judging panel for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here Now!
