#BringTheColour Pastel Hair

From the likes of Kelly Osbourne and Katy Perry, through to Alexa Chung and our very own Fearne, it seems everyone is rocking the pastel hair trend. And why wouldn’t they?! Think soft candy floss, pretty peaches and lilac touches and you’ve got the idea – it’s a fun way to add instant colour to your look for spring/summer without being totally overwhelmed.

These new L’Oreal Feria Pastels are perfect for tinting your locks at home and with peach punch, lilac lavender and pink panther on offer you can pick the shade to perfectly match your style. Specially designed for bleached, highlighted or blonde-coloured hair, they last up to five washes so you can change your shade and try new looks to make sure you never get bored! Mix it up with a dip dye or go for an all over tone to really rock the look.

Another plus is that unlike other dyes, pastel toners can be applied to clean wet hair and there’s no mixing involved (read: less chance of it going everywhere!)

Tips For The Perfect Pastel Finish

The L’Oreal Feria Pastels are toners rather than dye, and they tend to stick better to bleached hair so always do a strand test (this is also advisable to check for any allergic reactions).

If you’ve recently bleached your locks then cut the time you leave it on in half, just to make sure you get a pastel hue and not a solid colour.

The dye works best on clean hair, so wash it thoroughly and use a pre-colour or an anti-dandruff shampoo (no really!) for the best results.

The tone of your hair will really affect the outcome. The whiter your locks, the more pastel the colour will look. For darker shades it will add a subtle tint but could also have little effect, so again do a strand test to check you’re happy with the results.

Rock the shower cap look while you wait for it to take effect. It may not look cool, but this way you won’t ruin your clothes!

Style It Up

Fishtail plaits look great with pastel hair, as they show off all the different shades – perfect if you’ve opted for the dip dye look. A braid across the front of your hair is a cute way to style this trend for a summer festival vibe.

Sleek and straight is another brilliant way to show off the different pastel shades. It gives the look a sophisticated feel with plenty of personality. Get the perfect products here.

Tousled hair is a more rock chick style to pair with your pastel hue. Whether you’ve gone for a girly pink or a lilac tone, this style will give it a great grunge vibe. Mix waves, crimps and curls for the full effect. Another plus? You don’t have to stress about the wind ruining your look!

A vintage do as favoured by Miss Kelly O is a great idea as the pretty pastel gives classic styles an instant update. The Hollywood starlet waves are ideal – think Veronica Lake for a sleek look or the iconic Marilyn Monroe for a softer finish.

Try a dipped tie dye for a real stand out take on the pastel trend. Blend different shades into the bottom of your hair and add a soft wave for instant summer style.

And don’t forget to bring to colour and send us some pictures of your new pastel locks! Love Aimee x
