When it comes to fashion, I love clothes that feel good as feeling good always leads to looking good. But when it comes to make-up, do you sometimes think it all feels the same? Then you haven’t tried the new Bourjois velvet lip collection yet!
It will be available to buy on Very in April but as it is such a revolutionary new product, Bourjois held a preview party in London and I went along. I was really excited to check it out after being told it glides on the lips like velvet but has a matte finish. But the piece de resistance is that it lasts for 24 hours!
They’ve certainly gone to some effort with the packaging, as you can see at the top of this blog post. I would be so proud to have these little beauties in my make up bag. But it’s not just about how they look on the outside, what I really love about these velvet lipsticks (apart from how long they last) is how there is a brush built into the lid.
There’s no awkward stick of lipstick, whereby you have to use lipliner first to define your lips. With this new Velvet product, the brush means you have more accuracy, thereby eliminating the need for a liner.
At the launch, I drank, I ate and I chatted a lot and the lipstick stayed the same from beginning to end. Sometimes, I get lipstick marks on my chin or my face when I eat or drink and when I don’t use liner, my lipstick bleeds into the corners of my mouth. But I had no issues with this velvet, only positive thoughts about how lovely it felt and looked on my lips. I used to be more of a gloss girl than matte, but this product is changing my mind.
The event also showed some other new products including new shades of nail varnish (at the back left of the photo above) and a new type of mascara. The mascara, which launches in May, is also pretty exciting as it has a thick wraparound spherical brush for instant volume. I was informed that the brush was designed like a blowdry brush so just as a blowdry brush helps you get big hair, this helps you get beautiful big lashes.
The hardest thing now is being patient! There are two shades in the velvet lipstick range that are exclusive to Very – a dark red and a neutral nude – so mark April in your diaries and get ready for a new spring look.
