Ladies Day: Make Sure You’re Off To The Races In Style

OK, so your ticket is bought, day booked off and now you need the perfect outfit for Ladies Day.

Take a look at some of my top picks and outfit odds – you don’t want to be the nap of the day!

Monochrome is a sure thing this Ladies Day with the lovelies of Liverpool working the chalkboard trend of the summer.

Around last season, monochrome has been reworked with colour blocks and frills for an occasion wardrobe investment.

When showcasing your mod monochrome remember to:

  • Keep it fun and flamboyant with frills
  • Or understatedly chic with bold, colour block panels

Y.A.S have gone for frills with their contemporary take on monochrome, while AX Paris have gone for a stand out checkerboard pattern for bold beauties.

Lace has become a staple of Ladies Day, and all other race meetings, around the country. It’s a safe bet that you’ll look the part in lace – however remember to:

  • Keep it simple
  • Keep it ladylike
  • Keep the sleeves capped or long

Amy Childs has the right idea when it comes to lace dresses – she keeps it simple in strong colours, ladylike in a pencil cut and the sleeves flattering. However, the bodycon fit adds a little oomph to your look!

These dresses are from her Georgia range, but check out her Lexie and Sadie collections too for a little lush lace.

OK so jumpsuits make a cute alternative to the little black dress on nights out, but they’re not seen as the in thing at the races. However, as long as you remember to:

  • Keep it glam
  • Keep it fitted

You’ll win over the crowds this Ladies Day! Try out one of our jumpsuits from Little Mistress or Lipsy’s Kardashian Kollection to create a smart chic retro revival of your own or for a more sports luxe meets glam number go for Forever Unique’s Stephie jumpsuit.

And don’t forget to have fun accessorising with a cropped tailored blazer, fascinator and heels!

Now I know what you’re thinking – “Pastels are a huge hit on Ladies Day!” And you’re right, pastels make a come back season after season and look picture perfect if done right. However, if you get pastels wrong you get them very wrong, which is why I’m hedging my bets on them.

Make sure you keep your pastels perfect by:

  • Mixing up the colours – dress and accessories do not need to be coordinated to the max
  • Avoid frills – you risk looking like a small child at a birthday party
  • Play it safe with your underwear – that’s right, you don’t want a VPL on the day and it’s difficult to hide a white, black or nude bra

Take a look at our fun pastel dresses from Little Mistress’ grown up take on the trend and Definitions cute, girly addition to Amy Childs’ vintage rework.

From prom to maxis, lace to monochrome, we have it all for you here so what are you waiting for? Piece together your Ladies Day outfit, fascinators, clutches, heels and all and make sure your outfit is a sure thing!
