Chunky Sandals

Think flat, think fat and think fugly. The chunky sandal is here, and judging by its stern demeanour, it’s here to stay.

Now don’t panic, by “here to stay” let’s remember this is fashion after all so I would predict about two seasons worth before you start to look slow on the uptake. Either way, these chunky morsels definitely require your attention, and if you haven’t already, it’s high time you got yourself a pair. By the way, if you’re looking for someone to blame then look to Céline, Prada or Givenchy – all of whom sent models stomping down the runway.

Once you’ve recovered from the wave of 90s nostalgia and slight feeling of initial repulsion take a moment to notice the selling points of the new in-your-face sandal. Firstly, they are supremely easy to wear, think comfort over couture and you’re going in the right direction. Secondly, they add height without you even noticing – if you’re getting on board with fashion’s sudden wake up to feminism but you’re not quite ready to ditch the extra inches, then these are the shoes for you. Thirdly, you can run in them – whether it’s towards the shops or away from work.

Insiders are calling this the “fastest growing flat trend” so whether you opt for a pool slider, Birkenstock or hiking styles it’s time to choose your poison.

Relaxed, sleek and achingly cool. Sports luxe is the city girl’s look of choice this season.

Shop the look: Dune Wedges, Definitions Jumpsuit, YAS Bomber Jacket, Clutch Bag

High-impact, glossy and oh-so-chic, the Glamour Puss rules the party.

Too cool to try and far too relaxed to care – the Street Styler takes this trend to a new level of nonchalance.
