One of the most stylish women in Hollywood – Cameron Diaz – came to London for the red carpet premiere of her Girl Power chick flick The Other Woman….and the whole night was a celebration of strong, feisty women!
I was there at the Curzon cinema in Mayfair to get the gossip and note down exactly what everyone was wearing, and I had real outfit envy most of the time. Cameron and Kate Upton, and Leslie Mann showed off their individual styles, with bodycon mixed with prom style dresses, knee length mixed with midi length. Thankfully the weather in London stayed dry and fine so the stars were completely fine to stop and sign autographs for the crowd as well as talk to journalists about what they were up to next. So read on below for the fashion and gossip from the premiere of the coolest chick flick this year…
Looking hot in a leather bodycon dress, the Something About Mary actress caused shock when she admitted she was 42. I had to ask what her secret was and her biggest tip was ‘drinking lots of water.’ That sounds too simple! However, she also juices, eats clean and works out 5 to 6 times a week. Thought so! She revealed her next role is in a film version of the musical Annie, where she plays Annie’s wicked foster mom.
There’s something about a leather dress that makes it really noticeable as you just want to touch it to see how soft it is. Inspired by Cameron, I had a look at some leather items at Very. My favourite is the Vila Subat PU tunic dress, which is below left. A pencil skirt is a safer way to wear the trend if you don’t want to go all out – see the Lipsy PU skirt with zip detail. Or try the Kardashian Kollection PU dress (bottom right).
Leslie Mann has had a long career as a comedic actress with roles in Knocked Up and The 40 Year Old Virgin so I had to ask the cool actress if she ever felt typecast in comedy. Would she like to try something more serious? She exclusively revealed she would like to collaborate with Girls writer Lena Dunham and do something about issues real women face. She also said she’s prepared to do something where she doesn’t look pretty as it’s more about making people take notice of issues than looking good. However, at the premiere she was prettiness personified. I loved her multi-colour party dress.
Kate Upton, the Sports Illustrated model, is only 23 but she’s graced the cover of Vogue USA and Vogue France as well as GQ, Elle, Harper’s and magazines around the world as well as this film. So what does she possibly have to achieve? The model / actress, who looked chic and sophisticated in a black dress with her hair in a chignon up-do, revealed she’d like to do something involving horses. When she was younger she competed in horse riding and horse shows and won several titles. Watch this space!
So is the film in itself any good? In a word, YES. After discovering her boyfriend is married, a woman (Cameron Diaz’s character) tries to get her ruined life back on track. But when she accidentally meets the wife he’s been cheating on, she realizes they have much in common, and her sworn enemy becomes her greatest friend. When yet another affair is discovered, all three women team up to plot mutual revenge on the cheating, lying, three-timing Mark. It’s out in cinemas on 23 April.
