It’s an exciting time for Little Mix! Since forming on the X Factor in 2011, they’ve had two number one singles and a platinum-selling debut album and this week they start their first ever arena tour – from Newcastle’s Metro Arena to the O2 in London. The girls have sold record numbers of tickets and now it’s time to get on stage and show what they can do!
But what I like about the hard-working girl band is they don’t let the pressure get to their heads. They’re not doing much differently to what they’ve always done. They never look super smart, they just look cool. And when they were photographed on the way to a TV interview in contrasting monochrome outfits, they all put their own personality into their choice of black and white clothes. Jesy Nelson (far left) went for a classy jumpsuit while Perrie Edwards (second from left) was more daring with checks. Jade Thirlwall has a more girly side and let it out with sequins, while Leigh Anne Pinnock left it laid back and casual. All of it suggests that there are many ways to wear the moncohrome trend and look cool at the same time.
Inspired by Little Mix, I searched for cool black and white clothes at Very and I found some fun things. The Lipsy pebble printed playsuit (above left) is super flattering but it’s not too fitted so it looks comfortable. The Definitions embossed crop top has a touch of sparkle about it, similar to Jade’s top and the Glamorous cami grid print jumpsuit has a similar print to Perrie’s trousers. The Love Label floral ponte jeggings have a swirly print like Leigh Anne Pinnock’s ones. And all the girls are loving their practical boots, just like the Head over Heels lace up boots.
The girls’ second album, which has just been released, is called Salute. I’m definitely saluting them for their sense of style – what do you think?
