KEEPING UP WITH THE KIMONOS

A former staple for girls who’d rather wear flowers in their hair than diamonds around their neck, the kimono has cleared it’s name as a one trick wonder for the boho society and instead become a summer style staple in every fashionista’s wardrobe. The long and short of it is that there’s a style for everyone – be it long or short. But seriously, from gypsy-glam fringing to some super nice stems, everybody from the celebs to the street stylers are rocking them like it’s hot. You in? Let’s pick your style.

01-printed So gorgeous thrown over a cut out swimsuit and paired with some killer wedges (yep, we’re following the TOWIE girls’ lead and condoning height around the pool!) look to tribal prints and mid-length cuts if you’re jet setting somewhere hot. We hate that regurgitated ‘beach to bar’ phrase, but this piece really will take you straight from sand to sangria at the flip of a statement necklace, so get involved but don’t forget your VIP style sunnies!

02-fringed

There’s no escaping that a good bit of fringing is inherently bohemian, so lose the fear and keep the free-spirited faith by adding tribal jewels and embellished flats that sing with a gypsy soul. If you’re set to play the field this summer, a kimono with plenty of fringe benefits should be your go-to piece – especially if you’ve got V or Glasto tickets in the bag! Why? Because if there’s ever a place to unleash your inner Mossy, amongst the music and the mud is prime time opportunity! Remember to pack a fedora and some dry shamps into your backpack for extra hippie points! Of course, there’s still a way to make tassels look glam, just take a leaf out of Sherzy’s book and rock it with voluminous locks, big hoops and a girly flower clip.

03-floral

Check it, if denim shorts had a lover, the floral kimono would be it. Tuck in a basic black cami and you can be outta the house looking amaze quicker than you can say “Do I need a jacket?”. You could, of course, go all-out oriental here or even bag yourself some matchy-matchy shorts but if you stick to a jeanius combo then going wrong simply won’t be an option. If cutesy petals aren’t your thing, take notes from Rita Ora’s summer grunge look and team yours with chunky boots, bare legs and blue tint Ray-Bans – in her own words, she will never let you down! (Sorry…) That’s it from me! If you’ve liked what you’ve read you can shop all of Very.co.uk’s lovely kimonos here.
