Glamour Magazine consistently gets the top female celebrities on it’s front cover so you know when they have an awards ceremony it’s going to be a spectacular one. When it came to the outfits, the dress code was ‘glamorous’ and the stars did not disappoint! Everywhere I looked I had outfit envy.
There were wall to wall celebs with girlbands (The Saturdays and Little Mix), TV presenters (Caroline Flack, Cat Deeley and Davina McCall), actresses (Dame Helen Mirren) and solo singers (Paloma Faith, Foxes, Eliza Doolittle and Katy B). But I did notice that some of them had a few things in common. While white is growing in popularity as a fashion choice, especially in summer, I did notice that there were a lot of celebs dazzling in brilliant white dresses. Two of the Little Mix girls did it with knee length dresses, Amanda Holden wore a plunging maxi dress and the cool singer Foxes did it in her own way with a maxi skirt and crop top.
The other fashion staple was a black dress as you can see below:
I love how the Xtra Factor star Caroline Flack used ruffles to make her dress mermaid like while Paloma Faith (below right) used feathers to really stand out. Alexa Chung looked very chic with detailed panelling on her dress. All this showed me that if you’re going to wear a black dress, the way to wear it right now is with some kind of embellishment. Plain and simple is no longer how the celebs do it.
Of course, there was some colour too. Just not much of it. I did like The Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes’ red dress though and The One Show presenter Alex Jones channelled the summer vibe with yellow. But it was Laura Whitmore who took a fashion risk that paid off. As so many stars were in black or white, the fact she was in both and blue polka dots and had a gorgeous pair of sandals made her a total trendsetter. I loved it!
