Festival season has officially started! The Isle Of Wight is the first festival of the summer, next will be Glastonbury and then we have Wireless and V and Reading and Leeds and Global Gathering plus ones abroad in Ibiza and Croatia and Benicassim. Bring it on!
And I am happy to report it’s all started in style. The female performers at the Isle of Wight rocked it up with a theme of PVC, mesh tops and over-sized t-shirts. As the weather stayed dry (for once) there was no need for waterproofs so we really got to see the fashion. I’ve compiled a top 5 of my own personal favourite looks, starting with Neon Jungle (above). I like the fact they’ve stuck to their own individual styles – from a white skirt to smart trousers to over-sized black t-shirts worn as dresses. These feisty girls don’t compromise and I think that’s a lesson we could all learn. Know what suits you and stick to it
2. Cher Lloyd
The X Factor runner-up (she was on it the same year as One Direction) has really grown up from the scruffy teenager that appeared on the ITV show. Her mentor was Cheryl Cole and now Cher looks so similar to Chezza in her crop top and leather trousers, don’t you think? But unlike Cheryl Cole, Cher’s done well in the States and her second album Sorry I’m Late is out now, Watch this space!
3. Taylor Momsen
Similar to Cher Lloyd, Taylor went for a black look but I loved the gold embellishment on her black dress. Her set rocked as well – there was moshing and screaming and howling! For those of you who don’t know her history, Taylor used to be in Gossip Girl and a squeaky clean actress. Now she’s the frontwoman of gothic band The Pretty Reckless. What a transformation!
4. Chloe Howl
Chloe Howl was nominated for a BRIT award in the Critics Choice category and although she didn’t win, she’s guaranteed to win one in the future with all the work she;’s been doing. To go from nothing to performing at one of the year’s biggest festival is an impressive achievement. Her last single Rumour did well in the charts but she hasn’t even released an album yer – that is due later this year. Watch out for it as her songs are catchy and packed with more attitude than Lily Allen.
5. Katy B
Black seemed to be a big theme for the performers and Katy B joined Taylor Momsen and Cher Lloyd in wearing black. The black leather-look leggings did look very sexy though. Katy has got lots more feminine in her looks than when she first started and her songs seem more chilled out too, in a good way. I think she seems more comfortable in her own skin.
Has this got you excited for the festival season yet? I CANNOT WAIT!
