As wedding season is coming up I’ve been asking some of the girls around the office what is their idea of the perfect hen do and here’s what they came up with…
Our Kidswear writer Gemma fancies a long weekend spent sightseeing, sipping cocktails and plenty of retail therapy.
Her must-go cities are: Paris, the Dam or Berlin.
Try the luxe Sauna Deco Spa in the heart of the DAM with it’s Art Deco structure and posh interior it’s the perfect place for a hen and her girlies to relax!
Or what about the Sento Spa – a rooftop spa that boasts panoramic views of the city coupled with Jacuzzis, rain showers and relaxation zones?
Roanna, our Womenswear writer, would prefer a quiet affair surrounded by her closest girlfriends. She’s start the day being pampered and drinking coffee (she’s a bit of a coffee fiend), before going out for a posh Italian dinner and plenty of neat rums.
Think low key, food and laughter.
Try Liverpool’s latest Italian restaurant on Duke Street – the Amalia is lighthearted, scintillatingly good Italian cuisine that’s the perfect host to your hen do. Or why not go for the classics like Il Forna and let the wines flow?
Sarah, our Homewares writer, is in cohoots with Roanna on the quiet front. Her dream hen do would be a low key dinner with cocktails and champagne followed by lots of dancing with her close friends and Mum, of course!
A definite ‘NO’ for Sarah is ‘L’ plates.
Why not try the exciting Alma De Cuba in Liverpool? Just tell the barman what spirit you like and he’ll whip you up something tasty and then get ready to samba the night away with the beautiful dancers…you’ll feel like you’re in Rio!
Our gorgeous Very Blog Editor Kate’s perfect hen do would be a horse riding weekend with mornings spent horse back and afternoons filled with pampering in a Spa. For the night it’s cocktails, cocktails and more cocktails, what could be better?
Kate’s must go places include Copenhagen, Madrid and Marbella (more for the sun than horses methinks)!
Lauren, our other Womenswear writer, is obsessed with Paris and so would definitely have to spend a long weekend in the chic city with her girlfriends.
She’d spend her days sitting outside bars and café’s sipping local wine, drinking good coffee and eating delicious food followed by a little retail therapy ready for the night ahead.
The evenings would be spent having dinner and drinks before moving on to a bar filled with live music!
Try Le Caveau de la Huchette for a spot of live jazz music in Paris’ infamous Latin Quarter or spend the days perusing your favourite boutiques including Chanel!
And as for me, well I’m a fan of the dress down, underground city that is Berlin. I’d stay in a hostel with all my close friends – get the Uni gang mixing with the Liverpool girls – and spend my days on Beer Bikes (don’t know what it is…You Tube it) and chilling on a man made beach overlooking the river by the East Side Gallery.
After grabbing a quick bite to eat its time for power naps, more drinking and getting ready to descend on some of the coolest bars around, from rooftops to under a willow tree Berlin has it all. I’d finally make my way to a club, Watergate or Berghain around 2 and party till 9! And then repeat until it’s time to come home!
Having been to Berlin several times I’d definitely recommend Berghain for an out of this world clubbing experience as well as the weird and wonderful beer bike tour and Hackescher Markt for kooky little trinket shops, bars and beautiful places to dine al fresco!
So, whatever your idea of the perfect hen do is, hopefully we’ve given you a few cool ideas to get started!
