If there’s one girl that knows about dressing up it’s ex-Corrie star Michelle Keegan. She’s won Sexiest Soap Star at the British Soap Awards for eight years and been there as Cornonation Street has won TV Baftas and National TV Awards. So when Lipsy were looking for a gorgeous girl to front a new range, Michelle was the ideal candidate and I had high hopes to see what she would come up with. The last Lipsy party I attended was to launch their collaboration with the Kardashian sisters, so Michelle had big shoes to fill.
She took the challenge and completely killed it, changing outfits to model the range herself and talking to party guests – journalists and fashion buyers – non-stop! There was no snobbery with her, she was happy to talk to everyone while boyfriend Mark Wright sat in the background. He must have been proud of his fiancee as what I saw of the range looks absolutely fantastic. It’s so wearable for everyone – classy and sophisticated and, most importantly, very flattering! I really like the shape of the pencil skirt she wore at the start of the party and I have to say her biker jacket felt amazing.
Later on, I got the chance to talk to Michelle when she’d changed into a cute suit. The satin detail on the sides gave it a unique twist, making it work for a night out as well as for work. The straight leg trousers with a high waist, are great for elongating the legs and the stripe helped with that too.
Michelle told me that her fashion icon was Victoria Beckham and she’d thought about Victoria when designing her own range. She said her aim was to keep it simple but sophisticated. She said she is not into being daring with fashion, she prefers flattering pieces that won’t date and will last you for years. And she said she loved her fiance Mark Wright’s dress sense, and glowed when she talked about him.
But what does Michelle like to wear hereself? “I like jumpsuits because if they fit well they can look very classy.’ she revealed. ‘I like the tailored suit look as well – tight pants with a nice top tucked in and a suit jacket. I also love bodycon cocktail dresses, not too short though, usually just above or below the knee.’
The range will be sold at Very from tomorrow – (Friday 4th July)! But in the meantime have a look at some of the photos I took from the launch. Black and white was a common theme and the detailing was stunning.
I did like a white dress with black lace detail.
A faux fur jacket really stood out. I almost want the nights to get cooler so I can wear it out!
If you had a formal occasion coming up, this maxi dress would be ideal. It’s a really elegant shape!
