With six years in one of Britain’s best ever girlfriends on her CV, The Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes knows a lot about dressing to impress. And now she is sharing her style knowledge in her new clothing collection for Very, which is heavily influenced by her personal tastes and experiences. Exciting!
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I attended a small fashion show for the collection in London’s lovely Claridge’s hotel. Since The Saturdays formed Rochelle’s gone from being a teenager to being a married mum of one and rocked a few different looks over the years, so I wasn’t sure what trend the collection would draw on…until she came out in front of the room of journalists in a bright coloured jumpsuit (above). It’s safe to say that one of the biggest themes of this collection is bright summer colour.
It was a really unique way of doing a fashion show as Rochelle talked through her inspiration for each item of clothing as the model came out wearing it. The one above was designed for summer with the flattering orange and white colour great for enhancing a tan and the cinched in waist ideal if you are feeling a bit sensitive about your figure as it highlights your waist and has peplum detail to hide the lower stomach (which Rochelle said she had to think about after giving birth to her daughter).
There were a lot of jumpsuits and playsuits in the collection as Rochelle said she liked to choose one item and not have to think about matching it to anything other than shoes. As a working mother, she feels playsuits are more practical than dresses but practical does not mean dull!
Most of these items you could wear for work or play. I liked this printed orange short suit as it’s tailored but it’s very flirty at the same time. It has personality.
Another, perhaps more formal outfit for the office was a lovely canary yellow knee length dress. I like it because it enables us all to get noticed. If you want to get the boss to look at you then this is the dress:
However, when this striped dress came out a lot of the journalists gasped in appreciation. It’s light and floaty for summer and the mix of horizontal and vertical stripes is so flattering!
If you’re more of a trousers and top kind of girl, then Rochelle has designed some tapered trousers that finish at the ankle to show off the slimmest part of the leg. The top is cleverly bias cut over the stomach so it’s slimming.
What do you think to these outfits? The full Rochelle collection is at Very now so you can pick your favourites!
