With desks stacked high with latest samples and a team full of beauty enthusiasts I thought I’d do a little investigating into Team Very’s beauty regime. I hoped to find secret tips and tricks and some superstar product recommendations, I ended up feeling really rather guilty for not spending enough time on my own beauty upkeep! Thankfully Very stocks some top notch beauty brands and so, one hefty order later, I’m feeling a lot better about my pretty prospects.
The Very team seem to fall into one of three categories, the get-up-very-early-and-arrive-looking-immaculate girls, the get-up-with-enough-time-to-put-on-a-decent-face girls and the sleep-as-late-as-possible-and-hope-for-the-best girls. I fall comfortably into the second group, read on to find out where you are…
Jennifer, beauty buyer:
I start by cleansing with Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Gentle Hydrating Cleanser , then use Garnier Micellar Water to refresh. I use various moisturisers depending on my skin, as I have combination skin – I then follow with my trusted makeup favourites:
Daniel Sandler Retexturising Primer, Elizabeth Arden Perfectly Nude Flawless Finish Foundation, MAC Mineralize Face Powder, Illamasqua Bronzing Duo in Glint and Burnish, Bourjois Healthy Glow Crème Blusher, Chanel Le Volume De Chanel Mascara
Danielle, beauty buyer:
My top tip is to double cleanse (Japanese skin specialists say it’s a must). I start with a quick wipe of Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (miracle product!) followed by Murad Pore Reform Daily Cleansing Foam. I then exfoliate with Dermalogica Microfilant, followed by Vichy Toner For Normal/Combination Skin. Followed with a layer of Murad Pore Reform Refining serum. My moisturiser changes depending on my skin – I use everything from Murad to Loreal Skin Perfect.
For every day makeup I prefer a tinted moisturiser usually Laura Mercier, but I also like Smash Box BB. If I need more coverage I go with either Illamasqua Skin Base or Elizabeth Arden Perfectly Nude Flawless Finish. Next up are my eyebrows where I use a real techniques brow brush and Illamasuqa Brow Cake – I then apply a swirl of illamasqua bronzing duo to the tops of my cheeks and a blush to the apples. The highlighter is mixed in so it makes you look a lot more polished with hardly any effort. I use Benefit They’re Real, or Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara for my lashes – followed by a sweep of black kohl to the lower lash line. For my hair I add in beauty works clip in extensions- really easy to add instant volumne and length. Finally I spritz a floral based perfume but this changes day to day and then I’m ready to go.
Michelle, beauty buyer:
I cleanse with Murad Essential C Cleanser before using Phillips diamond clean for a healthy white smile! I tone with Garnier Micellar Water and moisturise with Murad Essential C Day Moisturiser which includes SPF 30, so perfect protection against any harmful sun rays!
My foundation depends on the day and how many meeting I have. Either Nars tinted Moisturiser or if I know I’m going to need something a bit more long lasting and durable, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, applied with the Real Techniques foundation brush and buffed over with the Real Techniques Stippling brush, to blend in and give a natural, non caked finish. I then brighten – touching up any under eye bags with my number 1 make up bag must have – YSL Touche Eclat (can also be used as an under brow arch highlighter). If I’m feeling a little bit dull, a sweep of Bourjois bronzing primer will perks my skin up – set with a loose powder. My go to blushers -Nars angelica, a beautiful shimmery pink, or Illamasqua promise, a cream pink blusher. The benefit brow bar keeps my eyebrows defined and I use Chanel Le Volume mascara (if I’m feeling flush!) or Max Factor Masterpiece. I love the waterproof Mac Factor Colour Expert Liquid Liner as it lasts all day. I spritz a light and fresh perfume, like Beyonce Wild Orchid.

My morning routine varies fairly wildly depending on how early or late I get up, but on a successful alarm clock day it’s moisturiser and then some primer followed by BB cream. A very quick dab of highlighter under my eyes to make it look like I got my full 8-10 hours and then spot of cream blusher. Mascara, my eyebrow kit and some lip balm then allow me to keep up the illusion of being awake until I actually am! (On an unsuccessful alarm clock day it’s more like primer, mascara, go!)
Gemma, kidswear writer:
I moisturise with Nivea Daily Essentials sensitive day cream as my skin is prone to be being dull and dry. Then I use a BB foundation from Maybelline – an inexpensive gem that covers up and conceals any imperfections. I fill in my brows with Benefit Brow Zings, it’s the best brow powder out there as it’s smudge-proof and easy to apply. I quickly curl my lashes and apply Maxfactor False Lash Effect. I have long eyelashes but they need some help when it comes to curling and this mascara is the only one that keeps them long, full and fluttery all day long (and I’ve tried many brands!). Lastly I enhance my eyes with Chanel Waterproof Eyeliner. I have watery and weepy eyes, so investing in good eye make-up is essential – this one is panda-eye proof and lasts all day.

I use whichever face wash/scrub I have on rotation that morning. I then moisturise using a cream from Avène. Afterwards I use foundation from Bobbi Brown as it is really lightweight. A bit of mascara (Dior or Maybelline whichever I can find that morning) and lip balm! My hair may get a brush if it is looking particularly unkempt and I’m afraid… that is about it!
