Whenever I go to London Fashion week, I always get lots of ideas and inspiration for what I could be wearing for next season. With street style now working as a huge plus and influence for brands, it’s great to keep an eye on and off the catwalk when I am down at Somerset house.
Trends for SS15
Summer is always a good time to experiment with fabrics and colours and as well as Pastels and bright neon’s making an appearance for SS15, there is lots of sheer and crochet coming through to give these bright colours some depth and fun.
Bold prints such as cats and horses were used in Issa London and the collect was hit with strong neon colours and also a chic white and sheer to give it a slightly softer look and feel.
Markus Lupfer loves colour and he has created a fun, surfer style collection that again has some neon pink and lime and Markus also highlighted the Mirror-lens sunglasses trend by having his models wear them all to compliment his pieces.
Holly Fulton used some heavy embellishment in her designs to give everyday pieces some couture status and attraction and small block heels were worn without the show which highlights that high heels won’t be ruling the footwear trends for SS15.
Street style for AW14/SS15
Talking of heels, it was quite a surprise to see so many brogues and trainers down LFW this season. With so much walking (and sometimes running) you have to do, I think the Fashion industry insiders are finally opting for comfort rather than huge heels and we are starting to see this on the catwalks and on the high street too.
The style of people was generally a look of chic-casual also with oversized tee’s, baggy coats and ripped jeans. I think this ‘look’ is very popular with press and bloggers alike so I would expect AW14 to be about boyfriend fits, camel coloured coats and rips in skinny jeans or beaten up baggy denim shorts.
