The British fashion Awards is the most respected awards ceremony in the UK fashion industry. It’s the UK answer to New York’s Met Ball and there were so many celebs walking the red carpet there was actually a queue of limos down the street so the celebs could keep warm while they waited for their turn down the red carpet.
I was there to see who won what, who presented what and what they wore to do it. It was incredible and once I’d picked my jaw off the floor and stopped staring at Harry Styles, as I honestly couldn’t work out if I fancied him or not, I noticed two trends. Firstly, a black tuxedo jacket was worn by both Emma Watson and Rihanna and I did briefly wonder if they turned up looking the same and Emma added a skirt to avoid competing with Rihanna. There was also a monochrome look going on with Kendall Jenner and Victoria Beckham and Cara Delevigne has a black block on her glittery dress to do the trend in her own way.
As there were so many celebs there let me talk you through my top 10 looks:
Wearing a blazer as a dress? Only Rihanna could get away with that! However, you could always wear shorts underneath and watch people’s reactions! You meed a long jacket like the Boss Orange Timono jacket.
(2) Emma Watson
I always think a white dress stands out more than a black one! And it worked for The Harry Potter actress as she won a style award.
(3) and (4) Cara Delevigne and Kendall Jenner
While Cara goes for gold, which was appropriate as she won Best Model, Kendall was in white. Sam Faiers started the white jumpsuit trend first – have you seen the Sam Faiers jumpsuit at Very?
(5) Victoria Beckham
It was monochrome for VB. What she’s wearing on top is essentially knitwear but if Victoria wants to do smart casual at the fashion awards, why the hell not? A black jumper is a wardrobe essential…although I’m not sure I’d wear one to an awards do.
(6) Ellie Goulding
White again! I do wonder if Ellie is hinting something in this white dress. She’s getting really close to boyfriend Dougie Poynter, recently hiring out the Natural History Museum for Dougie’s birthday. Wedding bells soon?
(7) Poppy Delevigne
Poppy couldn’t upstage her little sister Cara, as Cara won an award, but she did a good job of trying. The mesh material makes her dress more interesting than a standard black dress.
(8) Rita Ora
Rita Ora stepped out with Tom Ford in her lingerie. Well, she definitely got noticed.
(9) Nicole Scherzinger
Nicole and Lewis looked super happy together after Lewis’s recent F1 win. The embellishment on Nicole’s dress was stunning.
(10) Suki Waterhouse
Suki, who once modelled for Very, was the only celeb in a blue dress. I do wonder whats in her handbag though!
And finally, check out Harry Styles – what do you think?
