Brit Awards 2015: What To Watch Out For

The Brit Awards 2015 are just weeks away! It feels like just yesterday that James Corden hosted last year’s event, Lorde and Ellie Goulding and One Direction won awards and Beyonce performed wearing a dazzling green sequin dress. It went from one high to another. ending up with Pharrell Williams closing the show with a cover of Daft Punk’s Get Lucky.

It will be hard to top that this year but judging from the nominations, which have just been announced, it will be one star-studded event. It’s also been confirmed that Madonna will be performing for the first time ever in 20 years. She’ll find it tough to top Queen Bey’s outfit but this is Madonna and she goes all out to shock. I’m also looking forward to:

(1) The awards presenters

Rochelle Humes, looking lovely in a black jumpsuit, presented an award to Critics Choice winner James Bay at the nominations launch party, which sets the standards for the presenters on the night of 25 February. Ant and Dec will be presenting the show itself and there will be presenters for each individual award. Last year Kate Moss did one so I’m excited to learn who it will be this year.

(2) FKA Twigs (and Robert Pattinson)

Until the launch party, I always thought of FKA Twigs as Robert Pattinson’s girlfriend but she looked incredible in a blue dress with gold necklaces and gold bangles. She also performed and she was wild! I look forward to seeing what she does on the night and if Robert Pattinson’s in the audience it’s a bonus bit of eye candy.

(3) Clean Bandit

Their song Rather Be was the most streamed song of the summer with 13 million downloads and now they’ve been nominated for a Brit too. They formed at Cambridge University and they’re all very British. Lead singer Grace Chatto has a beautiful voice and a quirky dress sense, preferring trousers to dresses. I hope they win!

 (4) Sam Smith

Last year Sam Smith won the Critic’s Choice award before he’d even released an album and this year he’s up for five awards, more than any other artist. I’m sure he’ll clean up but I just hope he stays down to earth.

(5) British Video

Last year Calvin Harris and Rita Ora were dating and arrived arm in arm, her in a striking yellow dress. However, now they’ve split up and they’re in the same category. Rita’s video for I Will Never Let You Down is directly up against Calvin’s Summer. Tension!
