Last Saturday, for the first time ever, London hosted BeautyCon; the world’s premiere fashion & beauty destination for influencers, their fans, and many of our favourite beauty brands!  And I had the honour to be Very’s roaming reporter for the day…

I arrived at 9am, with all Platinum ticket holders, which meant we got to be spoilt rotten! Not only with our bulging goodie bags full of makeup but also with having early and unfettered access to all the beauty stands promoting, gifting, and introducing their products!  For instance, I had my picture taken at NYX, shared it on my instagram: @whitneys_wonderland, and as if talking to the great girls on the stand wasn’t fun enough! I was provided the opportunity to pick any makeup products to take home –a pink blusher was my choice!

Beautycon balloons

It was a gorgeous girly day full of all things perfectly pink!  From the huge BeautyCon balloons to a karaoke space decorated with pink hearts and colourful couches, it was all glittery, girly and gorgeous!  I actually learned a great new beauty tip from the girls at NYX-  I discovered the NYX Jumbo Milk eye pencil which is part of every great makeup artist’s bag!  This versatile pencil is perfect to make your eyes pop and look bigger when used as an eye liner, it also works as a brilliant eyeshadow primer, eyebrow arch highlighter and eye corner brightening…  All in one, I’m sold!

But it was when I heard the excited shouts of elation from many of the young attendees that let me know it was something special just around the corner.  It was the top beauty bloggers not only from London, such as Niomi Smart (photo below), but from the USA who were there to talk about their journeys, their tips, life, and most of all, to meet and greet their fans that had caused the excitement !

Niomi offered advice in relation to her experience, suggesting all should be selective when choosing which brands to work with!  I couldn’t agree more and we have had selectivity as a watch word at for some time and believe that it is her selective partner choices that cement her credibility as a thought leader in the beauty world! Several other of our favourite bloggers such as Fleur de Force, Suzie from Hello October, and Essie Button shared their experiences in the different panels that took place throughout the day! And there were so many more than I have the space to mention providing tips and advice!

But of course, this article wouldn’t be complete without our Style Steals of the day –these ladies gave us true outfit adulation and envy!

Carli Bybel

Carli Bybel is such a babe!  She looked gorgeous all in white, so on trend, making a real statement during the hotter months (even better when you get your tan on!) –I especially loved her gladiator style shoes with all the linked straps providing a mix of sexy and cool!  You can get the look with these great value, very similar River Island Strappy Blocked heeled sandals and these awesome French Connection Sunlight Shimmer shorts at Very!

Suzie and Emma

Bloggers Suzie from Hello October and Emma Pickles looked cool casual in their laid back outfits!  Suzie was all about being girly and comfy while Emma had that urban grunge look that works so well on her!  I found Suzie’s exact Fearne Cotton round neck lace dress on Very, which you can easily dress down for a day out walking in town like she did or dress it up with a pair of heels and some bling for summer cocktails at a fancy rooftop soiree!

Distressed denim couldn’t be more in right now, you can’t walk down the street without seeing many girls who have adopted the look in the black jeans with rips on both knees! However these Glamorous Ripped Denim shorts have the distressed effect while still being flattering thanks to the high waisted cut (legs for days…!) and they are not quite as ubiquitous as their previously mentioned counterparts!  Complete the look for spring with this versatile River Island checked shirt, that goes with anything from denim to big circle skirts and heels!

Leanne Lim Walker

If there is a tonal palette that is seeing a bit of a revival it has to be the browns!  From cream, camel, to dark brown, these colours have 70’s written all over them…  And the 70s are back!  A light blazer, cape, or trench coat like the one the gorgeous, dreamy mermaid hair coloured Leanne sported last Saturday is the perfect cover up for spring.   I’m loving the nude tone (same as Leanne’s) of this Lavish Alice cape plus, well, it’s a cape!  And what’s cooler than that?!

Speaking about ripped denim, if you want to get Leanne’s cool girl jeans, I found an exact pair from Love Label here!

Yes, cute lace feel and effect dresses are in!  But my very fave version of the cute white dress was Fleur de Force’s lace cut details, so chic!  I love this pic I took with her and one of her army of adoring fans as their dresses complement each other and they both look so happy and gorgeous!  Get their sweet look with this South Broiderie dress, all you need now is some sunshine!

Beauty by JJ

Jennie from Beauty by JJ is wearing a beautiful scuba dress with a cut that is flattering to all body types as a dress like this one will always accentuate the waist and therefore create the flattering hourglass figure!  I’m loving this neon coral tone from Sam Faiers’ scuba seamed dress, such a great colour for summer!  Draw the attention to your tiny waist with this thick waist belt.  Oh and a pair of killer heels like these lace up caged heeled sandals from Myleene Klass can’t hurt to complete your chic summer look!

Me Whitney

And last but not least, what I wore!!  I can’t even count how many compliments I received on my outfit!  Everyone absolutely adored the dress and shoes!!  And my hair was beautifully blown dry the day before at the glam Duck & Dry in Chelsea!  This dress is so flattering as well, I love everything about it:  The fabric, print, cut, fit…   Guess where I got it?  Very, of course!!

I can’t recommend enough this Ted Baker Tropical Toucan Bodycon dress  and the gorgeous Miss KG posey two part sandals to complete the look this summer!  Be it a wedding, a night out, or a hip event in town, I can assure you of catching everyone’s eye!  Complete the look with a dark lipstick such as the Max Factor Mulberry Elixir lipstick and IllaMasqua Charisma nail varnish that really pops with the details of the dress.

Group pic

The event went on till early evening allowing all the girls to meet and chat to their beauty icons, get their inner Taylor Swift on in the karaoke, and have all their hair and makeup done by some uber talented guys and girls, it was a  fantastically  successful event for both the exhibitors and the girls lucky enough to attend…now that’s a fun Saturday!
