Just as sunflowers, suncream and salty beach hair mark the start of summertime, a palette of colour-popping hues signal the onset of SS15’s warm weather style. Amongst other style visionaries, Ralph Lauren and Naeem Khan illuminated the way into the lighter, brighter months for us on the SS15 runways, proving they’re not afraid to borrow Andy Warhol’s palette of primary colours to paint the catwalk 50 shades of rainbow. In today’s Summer Nights edit, I’m looking at ways to take these trends from runway to reality, working a punchy splash of playful colour into our holiday edits and proving that pop art is by no means reserved for museum walls. Pass us the oversized sunnies – this is going to be a bright one.
Be it azure, aqua or cobalt, blue is big news this season and offers a more wearable alternative to zesty oranges and racy reds, if they’re a little too bright for you. How stunning is this LBP? I love the oversized frill panel to the top, which really softens your look, while the Bardot neckline keeps your style chic and timeless. As for the cobalt blue hue, this sets off your tan a treat. Go braless if you dare, or remember to pack your strapless lingerie – dancing by the sea until sunrise tends to require a little more support than your average night out!

If it’s a zesty pop of orange that you seek, let me introduce you to the scuba seamed dress by Samantha Faiers. Swish-worthy and sultry, it combines a cleavage-baring V-neck cut with a full pleated skirt for the ultimate feminine feel. Simply style it with dying-to-be-danced-in heels, a silver arm cuff and a box clutch to polish your pool party look.

Just as the sunset reflects on the sea to make the waves subtly sparkle, this necklace trim maxi dress promises to make your evening look shimmer as you head out to the taverna for a post-sunbathing meal and mojitos. The necklace detail and sheeny, satin-finish fabric lends a stand-out, high-end look, while the liquid-like material follows your curves to show off your striking silhouette. In a stunning, floor-sweeping style, this maxi takes your look to new lengths, with thigh-high side splits that show a flash of your tanned legs for a goddess-like finish.

For those of us who are seriously crushing on colour this season, these creations by Myleene Klass and Definitions let you dress yourself from shoulder-to-toe in the trend. If you’re after something that sleeks your silhouette and flashes a little cleavage, the D-ring maxi dress does just that, showing off your curves at the top and draping straight down to the bottom for a floor-sweeping finish. The wide-leg jumpsuit in blue taps into this season’s love for the ’70s, while cinching at the waist with a shoulder-baring Bardot neckline to keep your look sultry.
I hope that has inspired you to inject a riot of colourful creations into your suitcase. Clash your hues together for a full-on colour-blocked feel, or add simple accents with bright accessories. However you choose to wear it, have fun and happy vacay season!
