The Glamour Women of The Year event is always one of my favourite parties of the year. It’s been held by the Conde Nast magazine at the start of June for more than 10 years, bringing past and future celebrity interviewees together alongside journalists and fashion industry stars.
The guest list is always A’list and this year was no exception, bringing film stars like Kate Hudson alongside singers like Little Mix and Ellie Goulding to TV presenters like Tess Daly and Fearne Cotton. The dress code was ‘Glamour’ (obviously) but this year a lot of celebrities opted for striking red colours. I saw the same thing happen in Cannes a few weeks ago – the red dress trend is seriously growing. Have a look at who I saw there if you need some evidence:
Very designer Fearne won an award. She picked up Radio Personality of The Year for all her hard work on Radio 1. The talented star was looking radiant in red, showing that pregnancy is no barrier to style. I liked the ruffle on the top half, a bit like the Samantha Faiers ruffle dress at Very, as it tricks the eye and hides the stomach. Fearne’s a pro at dressing for the red carpet now and even in high shoes she skipped onto stage to collect her trophy.
Kate Hudson ,
Kate won entrepreneur of the year for her work on her sportswear clothing brand. You could see she works out by her super toned arms on display!
The British girl band looked like they were having a fun night! Their latest single Black Magic has been well received, but it was all about the red magic for these ladies who hit the dancefloor after dinner. Good on them for having some fun.
Rosie Huntington Whiteley
The Mad Max actress and model showed that red can be classy. She made a red maxi dress look really chic, by showing her legs and not her top half . Rosie’s boyfriend Jason Statham is working in LA so she was flying solo and had no shortage of male attention. Jason should have taken some days off work if he knows what’s good for him.
MTV Presenter Lilah was the only lady in trousers on the night but she rocked it! To pull this look off, it’s essential that the suit is in your size as there’s no hiding in something like this.
There was also a lot of monochrome at the event, which complimented the red nicely. Monochrome is just as striking as red but in a slightly softer way…
Rochelle and Marvin Humes
Rochelle looked stunning in a white and black maxi dress. The Voice, which Marvin co-presents, won an award. Now Rochelle is a presenter on ITV, it won’t be long til she wins one too. She looked super proud of her husband and I could tell he was proud of her. It won’t be long until there’s baby no 2 in the Humes family.
Tess Daly presented an award and her Strictly co-host Claudia Winkleman presented the whole event so these ladies were busy! A knee length white midi dress was ideal for her so she could move around.
Emma and Matt Willis
When you look closely you’ll see that Emma is wearing co-ordinates and it looks just as good as a dress, especially as it enables her to show off her slim waist. Emma’s on all the channels right now on BBC1’s The Voice and Channel 5’s Big Brother and there’s talk of her replacing Dermot O’Leary on The X Factor. Watch this space!
Tanya Burr is always super stylish but she looked cute and feminine at the awards in a statement skirt. I had a look at some skirts on Very and I can see some gorgeous skirts available right now that really make an outfit. A fitted top and an A’line skirt is a fresher take on the classic prom dress.
Ellie Goulding and Dougie Poynter
Happy couple Ellie Goulding and Dougie Pouynter looked like they were having fun on the red carpet. I suspect she’s pinching him. There’s no doubt that Ellie is the boss in that relationship – he has to party until she says they can both go home. Girl power!
