It feels quite early to be thinking about Christmas in July but with some of the weather we’ve been having recently it’s nice to have something to look forward to. I can put up with cold and wet weather if there’s the buzz of Christmas to look forward to – the trees, the baubles, the festive food, the mistletoe and the parties!
Thank goodness then for the Very Christmas in July day, which was a preview of everything dazzling that will light up our lives – and that of those we meet – during December. It was attended by lots of magazine journalists, who have to start thinking of their Christmas editions now, as well as bloggers who need to plan in advance. But we can all get inspiration from it. It’s a chance to look at what’s fabulous now so we can be not just on trend but slightly ahead of the curve. These will be on sale at Very in November / December time so it was an exclusive preview!
Here are my personal favourites from the new collections:
Christmas party dresses (the plunge maxi dress with a thigh split at the back is by Rochelle Humes)
Black open toe suede boots with a block heel
Red Sequin party dress, black lace party dress and velvet and mesh jumpsuit (luxe fabrics!)
Statement clutch and shoulder bags
Sable fur coat by Samantha Faiers
More fur – with personality!
Gorgeous lace and sequin tops plus a statement jumpsuit and fabulous flared jeans
Open-side boots with fringe details – I’d wear these all season!
It was great to see we can expect fur and sequins and luxury lace fabric come November and December – it’s traditionally Christmas and it really gets you feeling festive. There’s fur and fringing on everything from coats to bags to shoes. I loved it just as much as the snowglobes that we were taught to make at the Christmas in July day using a jam jar, a mini Christmas tree, glue and glitter. That’s all you need to make a snowglobe.
But what was your overall favourite piece of Christmas partywear? There’s a lot of choice isn’t there?
